It is now possible to personify your mini-profile! As such, you can now set the background colour of your mini-profile, as well as change the colour of the text. It is also possible to have a background image. To do this, please follow the step-by-step guide below or watch the video tutorial: 
1. Go to your Profile. 2. Click on "Edit Profile". 3. Once you have entered your profile settings, click on the "Personal" tab. 4. Scroll down to the bottom of the "Personal" tab. You should see these three tabs; "Mini-Profile Background", "Mini-Profile Name Color" & "Mini-Profile Text Color". 5. To set the colour of the mini-profile background and/or text, click the "text field". Once you click the text field, a pop-up will appear, which allows you to set the colour. 6. Once you have set the colour, click "Save Personal Settings".

What exactly is a mini-profile? What is it used for? The mini-profile is the member information found directly to the left of posts. It displays the member's forum statistics (i.e post count, thread count).

I still don't quite get how to modify the profile colours. The code in the video looks rather complex and it's apparently too small for me to decipher perfectly because I've already tried multiple combinations and none of them have worked.
Also, why is my mini-profile text displaying so awkwardly?

Also, why is my mini-profile text displaying so awkwardly? When you click the white box of the Mini-Profile Background tab, does this appear?  Also, the "Mini-Profile Name Color" and "Mini-Profile Text Color" are to change the colour of the username font and the other text within the mini-profile (such as the colour of the post statistics), which is why it is currently displayed awkwardly. If you want to have a status in your mini-profile, there is a "Most Recent Status" tab near the top of the "Personal" page.

Whenever I click on the Mini-Profile Background text area, nothing happens, I'm just supposed to input the code myself.

I'll have a look through the plug-in settings and see if I can resolve the issue. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Yeah, I'm having the same issue as Infinity. I've used this plugin in several other forums, and it's always worked fine.
Hopefully the developer will be able to find what the problem is. Mini profile customization is real fun, so it'd be cool if everyone could do it without any troubles!!

I posted in the support thread for the plug-in a few days ago, but I haven't received a response so far. Judging by the thread, it seems as though a lot of people have had difficulties with properly setting it up as well.

I just don't understand how it wouldn't work for other members, when it seems to work properly for you. It almost seems like an issue with permissions, but this type of application doesn't require any, so I'm at a loss lol. If this doesn't work, then installing another mini profile editor could be an alternative!! OR, just remove the plugin entirely

OR, just remove the plugin entirely The strange this is, I have even set the permissions in the "Custom Profile Fields" settings to exactly what is shown in the Proboards support thread. I'm really not sure what the issue could be.  I think I will remove the current mini-profile plug-in, because it's unlikely that it's ever going to function properly. I might look for an alternative plug-in sometime tomorrow.
