I personally believe that homework should only be for those who are actually struggling in the class. However, homework sometimes doesn't do much to help students, especially when they can easily cheat since they're doing it out of school so the teacher won't be there to notice. Homework can be helpful if you do it right, but most of the time a lot of students just look up the answers online rather than actually studying it, especially if the teacher didn't explain it clear enough. Homework gets in the way with a student's schedule and they may not always get to complete it. I've also read that math and science homework doesn't help and too much homework can actually hinder a student's grades and put them at risk for depression.
With that said, there is a benefit to homework. As I previously said, homework can be helpful to students who actually study and do it right. Homework can be a reminder to students that they need to study, and if they really do it right it could help their test scores and grades. Doing homework means that students are more likely to remember what they learned in class. Homework can also be helpful because it gets students thinking not only at school but outside of school as well.
What do you think? Is school homework actually helpful or do you think it's a waste of time?

For kids, no. Their prefrontal cortex isn't well developed, so them completing their homeworks relies entirely on them having attentive parents. Kids don't do homework out of their own volition. For high schoolers, yes, especially things like Math/Physics and English/languages. You need constant practice to absorb those concepts. It prepares you for university too where it's 90% homework and 10% classwork anyway Whether it should be included as a part of your marks/grades is another question. On one hand, I hated it when teachers used to make homework due the next class when I had so many other plans, and I had my own schedule on when to do homework. On the other hand it's easy marks compared to your grades relying entirely on tests/exams.

It's hard to say. I think it really depends on the subject and the needs of the student. In primary/elementary school, I don't believe homework is entirely necessary, as it generally doesn't benefit the child in any way. At that stage in life, it's more of a hindrance, rather an adequate tool for learning. However, if the student is experiencing learning difficulties and needs to improve their marks in a certain topic, homework may actually help the student.
I personally don't think homework is really necessary until at least the 10th Grade. I'm not sure what it's like in other countries, but down here at least, only the grades you achieve in Years 10-12 have a direct influence on life after school, such as applying for University or whether you meet the requirements for certain jobs.
