What do you guys think? This movie doesn't intentionally resembles it, it just shows what eighth grade is like nowadays in the beginning movie you can see her on Snapchat people saying lit in the movie and someone was also dabbing in the movie which is cringe but I think this resembles eighth grade in the late 2010s.

Just watched that trailer and wow. It seems really interesting. I want to watch it when it comes out, too bad I'll be on a vacation to Atlanta by then.

It's interesting to see what experiencing the 8th Grade would be like in the Late 2010s. Watching that video only makes my time in Year 8 feel so much more distant from the present time.

The millennial at the end is me when talking to 8th graders It looks like a very interesting movie, although I think the amount of time that 8th graders spend on their phones/computer might be a bit exaggerated here don't you think? For comparison, this was a movie about Grade 8 when I was in Grade 8 (2005), Odd Girl Out. I thought it was pretty good for a TV film. Actually, you can watch the entire thing on YouTube They only show it for a split second in the trailer (when everyone's huddled around the laptop), but there was cyberbullying in the movie too.

Even as someone who is well into high school, I can confirm that while smartphones are definitely popular, it's not to a point where they have their headphones in and on their phones while eating dinner. In fact, that is actually rare to see from my experience.

A lot has changed since I finished high-school. I remember back in early 2014 people at my high-school were saying lit, bae and on fleek. The movie definitely looks interesting. It just goes to show how far technology has come since I was in 8th grade in the 2009-2010 school year. When I was in the 8th-grade kids barely had smartphones, now you have kids in their single digits using social media.

Yep kids like us are in their own place when it comes to using their phones when we have breaks in classes or when school starts before the bell rings or at lunch everyone is on their phone either on Snapchat or Instagram we have devices aka school laptops most kids use those at lunch or break in class when they don't have a phone or not we usually get on coolmath-games.com or Minecraft. And psiphon a software that unblocks YouTube and other sites that are blocked on school devices one time my friend got caught with psiphon and had his computer taken away for doing that he got his computer back and still does it he hasn't learned a lesson anyway.

Sounds like the early college kids (high schoolers) at my community college @wobo. When I was in school kids brought their own laptops. The early college kids are givem their laptops by the school. We used computers in the school computer lab for entertianmemt. I'm not surprised your school banned YouTube, I remember my school did the same this g because kids would look at fights and stuff. Generation Z era has officially arrived. The late 10s is pure Gen Z era.

Judging by the trailer, the movie "Eighth Grade" looks rather interesting.
Personally, I like how they seemed to get an actress who looks like an actual 14 year old girl with acne and stuff (rather than the flawless-looking, probably from a talent agency 18 or 19 year olds who sometimes play teenagers in movies/TV) to be the central character - makes the film seem more realistic IMO.
Although I'm not too sure whether the typical teenagers of today are usually plugged into their earphones/phone over dinner!

Unfortunately, "Eighth Grade" most likely won't be released here in Australia, since it has been selected for the 2018 Sundance Festival and the film wasn't produced by a major studio. It will probably become available on a streaming service though. I agree that it's good that the producers have selected an actress who genuinely looks the age of the character she has portrayed. If the Wikipedia article is anything to go by, the actress who portrays the character is indeed a 14 year old, as she was born in 2003.

I should've mentioned this when there was a review in the paper last week but incase you weren't already aware SharksFan99, "Eighth Grade" is currently playing in (at least some - may or may not be a mainstream release so check your local guides) Australian cinemas.

That's interesting to hear about. I'm not sure if I would actually go and see it or not, but the concept of the movie is interesting anyway.
