Having casually viewed Proboards a number of years, I'd say that what it needed was a proper music board and, well, maybe it has arrived now, maybe this is as good as it gets? What do you mean by a “proper” music board? Hi rainbow. Proper might be better replaced by the tem 'decent' - well-organised and wholesome. Of course you ought to be able to discuss everything else besides music, I agree. But my point IS that even on mainstream internet, there are very few music boards IMO worth their salt. Examples, Drowned In Sound, Music Banter... some have gone by the wayside, like Woxy - anyone remember that? Anyway on Proboards we might collectively agree that this is the major music discussion platform and I hope I have gone some way to ansering your question.

I love Popedia. Everyone on here is like a big family. There is no drama, trolls, or stupid flame wars, it is a peaceful forum with a very friendly community of users. Moderators are very nice. Popedia offers a wide range of topics to talk about. I would recommend Popedia to anyone looking to discuss general discussions about pop culture, politics, media, gaming, traveling, photography, generations, and debating.

I'm going to be very honest. I feel like SharksFan99 needs a little break from creating threads because I think it would be new to hear from other people who want to come up with topics that have been on their mind. I also feel like threads made by other users are starting to get more responses lately. Just look at the " If you thought it couldn't get any worse... thread. It was made yesterday but already has three pages so far.

If the forum becomes inactive at any point, I will still create a new thread and i'll still post as often as I have been, but I've pretty much ran out of ideas for new threads for the time being.

It’s really great to hear members honest feedback about Popedia. SharksFan99 has really done an excellent job of getting his very first forum up and running from scratch. 👍 It may not be very active at times (as you’d expect from a relatively new site), but I’m sure with current members sticking around and new members signing up it will be a thriving community in the coming years ahead.

Thanks for the nice feedback and it's been great hearing other people's opinions of the forum. Like you suggested, it's still baby steps. Many forum communities (e.g Media Spy) have been around for well over a decade and were established when social media sites were still in their infancy. It's a massive credit to everyone here that Popedia has been able to establish itself and maintain a community, because quite honestly, I wasn't expecting the forum to be successful at all when I created it back in May 2017. Just the fact that people are actually wanting to visit the site and post on it really means a lot to me.

I remember its really early days in 2002 (I never signed up until a few years later but the activity was pretty similar at times to Popedia even back then before other mediums took hold with MySpace and the like).

That's interesting to hear! I knew that Media Spy had been around back in 2004/2005, but I didn't realise that it was already in existence as early as 2002. If that's the case, I wonder when the site was created? I'm guessing Early 2002, possibly even 2001?

If you look back through what is still available on the Wayback Machine (which I did many years ago to get a feel for MS early days), it seems activity is present in the earlier part of 2002. From memory, a member called “jezza” along with a few other members like “Lepatron” helped start the forum. I think the early years was more focused on members posting caps of TV presenters and such (with a number of disturbing comments about them accompanying it).

I have resigned from many fora in the past due to their playground mentality and the amount of idiots given free reign there. I don't see myself ever resigning from here though. Even though I am probably the oldest on here, cannot relate to the popular culture of your childhoods and youth and hate the music of the last 25 years, I don't feel out of place. This is brilliant.
