One year ago today, on the night of the 25th May 2017, a then-unknown forum called Popedia was born. It was created with the intent of providing a place for constructive discussion of pop culture and the media, as well as being a place where everyone is treated equally and decadeology-threads are discouraged. Now, some twelve months later, we have achieved that and the future is looking bright.
First off, I can't even begin to describe how appreciative I am of every single person who has joined Popedia so far. I know joining a brand new, inactive forum wouldn't have been appealing, especially one that is competing against more established sites. The fact that you were all willing to give Popedia a go and participate on the forum is something that I am truly grateful for. Whether you have been here since the very beginning or you have only joined the forum within the past few months, Popedia wouldn't exist if it wasn't for everyone on here, so I would really like to say thank you!
As someone who has never had any prior experience of running a forum, I had no idea how Popedia was going to turn out. I was honestly expecting to delete the forum after just one week, because I didn't think it would have any chance of being successful. It was a bit of a risk deciding to launch a new forum while undertaking Year 12 and studying for my HSC. Not only did I have the pressure of exams, but I also had to invest my time into managing the forum. In retrospect, i'm glad that I made the decision to create Popedia, because I never would have got to meet so many of you if I had decided not to create the forum.
I would also like to use this opportunity to thank our team of moderators, in particular. Your overall input and dedication has ensured that Popedia continues to be enjoyable place for all to visit and I truly appreciate everything you do.
In summary, thank you all once again for everything and here's to many more years to come!
