Want to know what equipment I use to record TV content for my YouTube channel? My VCR and DVD Recorder: Which it's what I use to convert VHS content. My Changhong TV with PVR: What I mainly use to record current TV content. EyeTV DTT USB Stick TV Tuner: My recorder for when I'm travelling. *my first name is blacked out, because I'm not revealing my full name publicly!*

Good thread idea!
I assume your EyeTV USB TV Tuner has a DAB+ and/or FM Radio function as well? I own a Kaiser Baas Total Media TV Tuner, but I can also use it to record/listen to FM radio and DAB+ (although I can't receive any digital radio stations at my location). I'll post photos of the equipment I use tomorrow.

Interesting. If you don't mind me asking, what was the reception of the channels like with using the little antenna? I use the little antenna that came with my USB PVR for the majority of my recordings and in most cases, I generally don't have any issues with the reception.

The reception was decent, my recordings however had no reception interference. Generally I would use the main outside aerial cable to get 100% reception while the little antenna that comes with the portable PVR often doesn't get good results (picture break ups or sometimes receive no channels).

That's good. I generally don't have any luck when it comes to using the main outside aerial. Most of the TVs at the accommodations I stay in either don't have a USB recording function or are in-built into the wall, making it hard to access the main aerial cable. Either way, it's good to hear that you didn't experience any reception interference with your recordings. I experience reception interference quite a lot with my USB TV recordings.

Awesome idea! I will get pictures later. I currently use a 90s Panasonic VCR and a 00s LG VCR to convert my VHS content. I feed this through to my Sony DVD recorder. I use a AVerTV Volar HD tuner to get my current/digital content.

I'm sure I've mentioned my setup before on other sites we frequent together but seeing as there's a thread for this! ๐
My recording setup has varied over the years which has produced positive and not so positive results. Originally I started using a basic SD/HD STB which had a USB recording functionality. That lasted for a few years before that finally broke (was only a cheapie so wasn't expecting it to last overly long to begin with but did last longer than I thought). Next was with a cheap TV which again had USB recording functions as a "special feature". This lasted for around 5-6 years before I finally upgraded to what I'm currently using which is a Topfield TRF-7170 model and TRF-2460 Masterpiece HD Plus model. I mainly use the cheaper TRF-7170 for recording current content (and just general viewing pleasure I guess) whereas I use the very expensive TRF-2460 'Masterpiece' for recording old VHS content, as this PVR has special AV Inputs for analogue sources which allows you to hook-up VCRs unlike the TRF-7170 model. It's a pretty basic setup but it does what I want it to do quite nicely. ๐
And as for when it comes to editing these recordings, these days I generally use VideoReDo and occasionally NCH VideoPad but have previously used iMovie (surprisingly this program didn't really produce that great of results as videos it created turned out pretty poor quality which showed in my earlier uploads) and Song Vegas.
Oh forgot to mention, I used to own a TV travel kit to record content whilst travelling around but ended up finding it too difficult/annoying to continue this so stopped and now I just do local TV content uploads etc.
That's about it I think. ๐

What is VideoReDo like? I don't think I have heard of that program before, to be honest. I personally use Magix Video Ezy SE, Adobe Premiere Elements and Sony Vegas : HD Platinum 11 for my video editing. Also, if you don't mind me asking, why did you stop using Sony Vegas for your editing? I have generally had really positive experiences with the program and it offers a lot of rendering options.

Yeah, it's not bad. Slightly better than VideoPad as that isn't as accurate when editing frame by frame by exact seconds as it goes by .25 instead of .01, .02 etc I've found. I wonder, does Video Ezy SE have a scaling tool for adjusting the aspect radio in cases where you might have black bars at the bottom or top of clips when changing aspect options? Why I stopped using Vegas? Not sure to be honest! I had it installed on an old computer and when I upgraded I just never went with it again and discovered other editing software I guess. Vegas was a great program to use though as it also has exact frame by frame edits and plenty of options to choose from. ๐

I own the 2011 release of Magix Video Ezy Se, however there isn't an option to adjust the aspect ratio on the version I use. There is a new version of the program available and it appears to have more features, so it's possible that the new release may give you the option to adjust it.

Ok, cool. Doesnโt sound like itโs packed with many features basic or otherwise. Mind you, for just general editing etc you donโt really need anything too professional or feature packed like the really expensive large file software. ๐
Another feature Iโve notced VideoRedo has is an auto ad detection that apparently scans the added clip and automatically removes the ad-breaks instead of manually having to do it (I think Vegas and others have the feature though). Canโt say Iโve ever tried it to see whether it works or not though.
