It has been raining here for the past 15-20 minutes, which is good to see. It's something our farmers desperately need at the moment.

It's something our farmers desperately need at the moment. Although I definitely agree on this point, what I'm sure our farmers would really appreciate is consistent rain for the next 2-3 months or so. Otherwise, I'm a bit worried that the upcoming Spring & Summer is going to be dominated by drought and bushfires especially after the very dry conditions during July which were very reminiscent of 2013 - the precursor to the bushfires in September/October that year. It might be Early August, but the weather we've been getting here in recent days has almost felt more like Early September!

Yeah, I actually don't think rain was forecast for Sydney and the Illawarra, at least not as far as I know. I agree. With knowing what the climate has been like in recent years, to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if we have a wet, humid Spring/Summer. It's all that we can hope for really, otherwise we could very well be facing the possibility of severe drought and a particularly bad bushfire season.

Mind you at the same time we don't want major East Coast Lows, "superstorms" or anything like that. otherwise we could very well be facing the possibility of severe drought and a particularly bad bushfire season. At the moment, I think over 90% of NSW (including the Sydney metropolitan area, which only got something like 10-15mms of rain in July compared to the average which is over 90mms) is currently in drought. The sad thing is there are actually people who still think the currently offline (although I'll bet that will have to be turned on again if the current drought continues for an extended period of time and Warragamba falls below a certain level) desalination plant at Kurnell was a complete waste of money due to some of the recent years Sydney has had above average rainfall...but don't get me started on that!

I don't really like wet & miserable weather but knowing how Sydney/NSW is currently in a horrible drought (it was reported last night on the news that the entire state is now in drought), we do really need some decent rain!
