Parts of NSW experienced a heatwave today. It reached 38.2C at my location, while most places in Sydney also experienced temperatures in the mid-high 30s. The worst thing about it was that I had to work in 38C heat between 2.30pm and 3.30pm this afternoon. It was absolutely horrible. The 18c day last year shockingly came towards the end of November, so there is some hope. Last autumn in general was really warm though. Most of October was 20c+ and most of November was 10c+, unlike this year when the frost came all of a sudden and we haven't escaped the freezing nights since. The catch was the autumn started really early last year (late August). I prefer the long summer Ah okay. The weather can be so unpredictable at times, so hopefully Richmond Hill will experience a 18C day before the month ends.

Oh my God, I can't imagine:o They should have called off working in such extreme heat!

It reminds me of when my brother took up the job of road-side sign holder (in costume) to advertise a local pizzeria in the summer. He quit after 4 days IIRC even though it paid like $15/hr (student minimum wage at the time was around $7) It never got anywhere near 38°C though

I've seen a few people do those type of jobs before and I always feel sorry for them, because it would feel pretty humiliating having to dress up in costume and you only get paid peanut money for doing it. At least with my job as a school crossing supervisor, I get paid $21,50 an hour and if I work additional shifts, I earn $23.50 an hour (as well as travel allowance). I don't work a lot of hours each week, but at least it's somewhat rewarding. I am looking into getting a new job for next year though.

2nd November High: 6°C / Low: 2°C (windchill: -2°C). Overcast. Rain in the afternoon. It's funny how November turns on a switch for most people and they instantly go from lauding the weather to complaining about it. I agree with them though. The past 3 days we got 70cm of rain and we have not seen the sun at all

One thing I've noticed is that the first few days of Summer are often some of the hottest days of the season.

Overcast. The forecast for tomorrow has the potential to be amazing (warm 15°C and sunny) or utter chaos (40% chance of rain, storm with gusts of 70 km/h). Mr. Morning sun, please shine down on me!

6th November High: 16°C / Low: 5°C. Downpour in the morning, mostly cloudy in the afternoon. Windy (40 km/h, gusts of 70 km/h) Despite the warmth it was awful today . I was waiting in line in the rain for the bus, and it was just my luck that as I was about to get on the driver said the bus was full and drove off. I had to wait about 10 minutes in the rain for the next one! Anyway, after this mini heatwave, we're going into a mini ice age. Temperatures will drop below freezing and will struggle to stay above it. But it will be SUNNY (with snow every now and then) and that is all I need right now!! Good riddance autumn

Good riddance autumn That must have been incredibly frustrating! Do the buses you catch often get full or was today just a rare exception? Either way, it's pretty unlucky that it had to happen when it was raining.
