21 January High: -14°C (windchill: -22°) Low: -22°C (windchill: -26°) Sunny. ---- An important politician's 93 year old mother died of hypothermia last night. The fire alarm was going off in her nursing home, but she was hard of hearing and didn't hear the announcement that it wasn't for her building. She walked out and the door locked behind her, and she succumbed to the -40c Eastern Canada plunged into last night. Hopefully this highlights the plight of the homeless or those without the means to buy a proper clothing whose stories of death/frostbite go unreported.

Like you said, hopefully the tragic passing of that 93 year old woman increases the public's awareness of the struggles that the homeless face on a day to day basis.

22 January Morning: -18°C (windchill: -21°) Night: -2°C (windchill: -6°) Mostly cloudy. Snow overnight and chance of freezing rain ----- We're back into the single digits. I really liked the weather today, winter makes you appreciate a -5 day 😂 I did lose my gloves somewhere though. Thankfully a thaw is on the way to give me time to go buy one and not have my hands fall off

Yeah, out there it will be far worse! I feel for ya. 22 January Morning: -18°C (windchill: -21°) Night: -2°C (windchill: -6°) Mostly cloudy. Here mainlanders whinge about our so called “brisk conditions”. They have nothing on this.

At that temperature, humidity doesnt make the slightest difference, that is unless of course you are sitting right in front of a industrial humidifier set on 100%

You’d have to ask the experts that one lol. It has dropped back to 17c at 17c now.

Here mainlanders whinge about our so called “brisk conditions”. They have nothing on this. Layers, layers, layers. Not just the number of them, but the materials too. With the thick down jacket, wool sweater and base layer (thermal undershirt) I was wearing (and cotton dress shirt, though cotton sucks at insulation, but... fashion!) , it would have to be -50°C for me to feel cold. Fur-lined hoods protect the face against windchills. This I figured out way too late in life My legs are another issue though, I've been having trouble layering them probably. Wearing two longjohns yesterday did the trick but I've yet to try that out in -30c or below.
