Now 40.9°C where I am in Melbourne, very cool in the house though. The top temperature was meant to be 39°C. That is 105.6°F, thanks Google

South Australia smashed some records today. Adelaide 46.6 was the highest ever recorded by a capital city Port Augusta 49.5 Whyalla 48 something It was horrible Our 37c tomorrow (39c at my location) will be bad enough, imagine hitting near 50c. The whole of Tasmania has been put on a total fire ban for Friday with the extreme conditions predicted. Not only with the temperatures itself, but the strong winds and the possibility of more dry lighting storms. There’s already something like 50+ active bushfires across the state, with two of the of major concern for authorities. These conditions predicted are very reminiscent of 2013 south-east firestorm. Let’s hope that’s doesn’t occur.

24 January High: 1°C (windchill: -4°) Low: -6°C (windchill: -11°) Mostly cloudy. Some snow in the evening. --- Everything is so icy and slippery from the rain yesterday I walk on the snow instead of the sidewalk.

27 January High: -9°C (windchill: -18°) Low: -21°C (windchill: -28°) Mostly sunny. Blowing snow. 28 January Day: -15°C (windchill: -18°) Night: -4°C (windchill: -11°) Sunny in the morning. Blizzard afterwards. A winter train ride. 29 January High: -7°C (windchill: -14°) Low: -20°C (windchill: -30°) Intermittent snow. Winter is so quiet, I swear I could scream and no one would hear me because the snow muffles the sound

High of 28C today. Really hazy skies over Auckland the past few days. After a few days of 30c+, in typical Tassie conditions today has seen just a top of 17c. Not that we are complaining as it gives a chance for our firies to put things in place to combat the numerous out-of-control bushfires burning in large parts of the state. Unfortunately though, it’s still very windy and with low humidity which counteracts that somewhat.
