I could be way off but I think this song (especially the vocals) sounds at least 20 years ahead of its time for 1974. Sounds pretty close to a lot of mid-90s alt rock such as Counting Crows, Soundgarden, RHCP.

This song came out in 2017, which was the first full year of late 2010's culture, but this hip-hop song sounds like it could've been released in 2013 or 2014. Even earlier, this could've came out in 2012.

This song dropped in 1986. When I heard it in Target last summer, I thought it was from 1992. 1992? Not hearing it, especially with those razor-sharp gated drums.

1992? Not hearing it, especially with those razor-sharp gated drums. Maybe my ears need cleaning lol. It kind of reminded me of SWV’s “Weak.” I mean, Robbie Nevil did write and produce a stylistically similar song in late 1992, which I think sounds 1989. As for the first song, my guess would have been 1989-90.

Harry Styles’s Treat People With Kindness gives me major old-timey vibes. Not really sure which decade, though. 60s-70s?

This was released in 1960, but does anyone else thinks it sounds more mid-60s when Motown and other similar-sounding music was popular?

Yeah I agree, it sounds like another one of those songs that defined the late 80s sound in 1986. Even the music video feels a bit closer to 1988. At most it could be released in 1988 or early 1989.

Some Australian examples: I've always thought this dance-pop/rock song is a bit ahead of its time for 2005. It peaked at #12 on the ARIA Chart in June that year and received a lot of radio airplay from what I remember, but it sounds like it could have been released in 2008 or 2009. I could definitely picture this sitting on the charts alongside a song such as Lady Gaga's "Just Dance". Incredibly, this electropop song actually pre-dates Lady Gaga! It was released as a single in December 2007 and it entered the ARIA Top-40 in February 2008, eventually becoming one of the best-selling songs in Australia for the year. Looking back, I can't believe this was on the charts in early 2008. It easily could have been released as late as 2010 or 2011. It's so ahead of its time. Australian pop music was generally very progressive during the late 2000s and a bit ahead of the curve. This was released in early 2008 and entered the Top-40 in March that year, but again, it sounds more at home around 2010 or 2011.

I recognize the chorus of the last song from this song I heard in 2014:

True Men Don't Kill Coyotes by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Released in 1984, feels like something out of 1987-1988. Even the way they dress and the video itself as well.

Just an ugly and lazy song, and much less forward thinking than "Foolish Beat" that came out a year before.
