"Radio Free Europe" from the same album sounds like a pure post-punk song. But this one sounds like post-punk suddenly morphing into alt rock. Would fit right at home on late 80s college rock radio.

Released: 1983 Sounds: 1989 "Radio Free Europe" from the same album sounds like a pure post-punk song. But this one sounds like post-punk suddenly morphing into alt rock. Would fit right at home on late 80s college rock radio. I would say Radio Free Europe sounds more alt rock/jangle rockish, with some post punk leanings, post post is more like joy division and PIL and early U2. College rock radio was big all throughout the mid 80s, with bands like rain parade, sonic youth, husker du, dream syndicate, violent femmes, meat puppets, all having landmark alt rock albums by 1984.

This songs feel severely dated for its time. What the hell were they thinking?
