I never thought I would say this (given my animosity against the Mid 2010s), but i'm already starting to feel a bit nostalgic for certain songs released in 2015, even though I have no such nostalgia for 2014 or 2016. Maybe it's the fact that I was 16 that year and with being in Year 10, I was fully immersed in the pop culture of the time? Who knows really.
"Cheerleader" by OMI was played on a music countdown show I was watching last Saturday and it really reminded me of my time in Year 10. I know it's still way too soon for anyone to have any substantial nostalgia for the Mid 2010s, but I thought I would create a thread based on this topic anyway.

Hmm, I could maybe get some nostalgia for 2013/4. Simply because I was substantially younger and less mature then and I was also in my junior high school years. Its also just long enough ago that if I went back there would be things that I completely forgot about. 2015 and definitely 2016 are too recent though, at least for me. My personal life and interests from then are much more similar to now, I was also in my senior high school years then, and I only graduated last year.

I'm personally already very nostalgic for 2015, but that's because I will still in high school back then and things have massively changed for me since.
It's understandable if you're still in high school now and things aren't that different from 3 years ago so nostalgia would be a bit ridiculous, it all depends on personal situation.

I'm culturally nostalgic for the mid 2010s. Personally not so much.

NEVER! I will NEVER be nostalgic for ANY year of the mid 10s! There is no way i'll ever be able to actually get nostalgic for the 10s!
WHY?!

That's a very good point. For me personally, I only graduated from high school at the end of last year, so I don't have a lot of nostalgia for my high school years at the present time. They are, however, already starting to feel a bit distant.

What if 2010s nostalgia overtakes nostalgia for the 2000s? I'd understand some early 10s nostalgia, but 2013-2016 and to an extent, 2012 all feel fairly recent. Why should there be 2010s nostalgia if the whole decade won't feel outdated for a long time at all, possibly even in the 2020s? It would be at least 10 years for the entire decade to feel old. Hell, the early 2010s may not even be that outdated when 2022 hits. I think the 2010s could very well be similar to the 2020s, or at least the early 2020s. Maybe even the mid 2020s to an extent. But I don't know. The two could be entirely different decades. WW3 could happen in the 2020s which would make it a different world from 2017. But still. The 2010s I will not have nostalgia for.

It will happen at some point and quite honestly, I think nostalgia for the 2010s will begin to become prominent in as little as ten years from now. There's already nostalgia for the Early 2000s and they were only 15-18 years ago. It's just the progression of time.

Nostalgia doesn't have to stem from an era having outdated technology. It can also come from personal experiences/memories. Just because the mid 2010's were hell for you doesn't mean that everyone else should hate them.

I've got to be honest, I have been starting to feel nostalgic for the Mid 2010s recently. They feel completely removed from now, at least they do for me personally. In 2015, I was still just 16 years old and in Year 10, I was learning how to drive and I got to hang out with my friends at school five days a week. It's funny how time changes your perception of things. They weren't particularly great years for me at the time; I was very self-conscious during my teens and I experienced bouts of depression, which I kept to myself. However, despite all that, I actually miss the Mid 2010s to a degree and listening to songs from that era really do make me nostalgic now: {Spoiler}

Damn, I was a weird 16 year old
That was a huge overreaction. Depending on how bad things get I might actually end up missing the mid-2010s

AHA! Anyway, for me it's been primarily on a political level that I'm nostalgic for the early and mid-2010s, but in general I'm a huge appreciator of 2010s gaming. As someone who has lived through 3 decades of games at this point, the last one has genuinely impressed me with the amount of evolution not only in how games are played but the kinds of games that saw the light of day. It makes me hopeful for the future of gaming. My personal life in the early 2010s was pretty great: I spent part of it in college and the whole of the 2010s has been the story of my relationship with my wife, as we "officially" became a couple on January 18, 2010 and had our first baby on March 6, 2019. Kind of wild looking back. The mid-2010s were not great because I was in law school and the late 2010s sucked because I had trouble starting my career, not to mention the political negativity of 2014 and onward to the present. As you all know, I am also a big fan of hipsters, Adventure Time, and the Infinity Saga of the MCU. So yeah, the 2010s have kinda been "my thing," even with my high school nostalgia for the 2000s.

My high school years have really started to feel distant for me lately, and this song is seriously making me nostalgic for when I was 15.
