Getting more precise than just years, the first few months of 2004 are already closer to the '80s than to today. Therefore, this... ...is as old now as this was back upon its release: That's incredible to think about. To be honest, the fact that 2004 is almost 15 years old scares me in some way, because it makes me feel as though my life has passed by in the blink of an eye. 2004 really does not feel as though it was that long ago. I still perceive it as having some sort of connection with the present time, when really, it's overwhelmingly outdated in so many different aspects.

Forgive my estimate for being a year off, "Cars" is actually closer to the release of Casablanca than to today. Though "As Time Goes By" was written in the early 30's, the film made it iconic.

Since it's a friday the 14th and I was born a friday the 14th, guess I would use my b-day this time.
The closest I could find that was released close to my birthday, is this first single by Puff Daddy as a main artist, released 3 days before I was born:
Which is exactly as old today as this Funk song by David Bowie was back then:

It's hard to believe that "Copperhead Road" is now over 30 years old! It has aged quite well, IMO. "Blue" was one of my favourite songs when I was a toddler (because of the blue alien people in the music video). Now, the song is the same age today as... ...this 1980 Disco hit was back then.

Continuing on the mid-2000s:
This Crunk song is as old today...
...as this Electro song was back then
And for the late-90s:
This Neo-Soul song (the one that got sampled in Drake's "Nice For What") is as old today...
...as this Disco-infused Philly-Soul song was back then
Bonus early-2010s:
This Electropop song is as old today...
...as this Pop Punk song was back then

I've got to be honest, comparisons between songs that are less than 15-20 years old generally don't surprise me too much, mainly because I can actually remember when songs from the Late '90s were less than ten years old. It doesn't seem as much of a shock to me like hearing about how "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the same age today as "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was back then.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is as old in 2020...
As this was back when it came out in September 1991...
Ice-T's "6 N the Morning", an early example of gangsta rap, came out in 1986.
It's as old today as this was at the time (from 1953):
Pink's first hit came out early in the year 2000:
It is now as old as songs from part of the 1970s were at the time (this came out in October 1979):
Elvis Presley's Hound Dog (1956)...
Is the same age now as this song and its parent ballet were at the time:
Drake's first song (February 2009)...
Is as old now as this was when it came out...
One of the very first Y2K-style songs ever (1995):
Is as old now as this was when it came out...
From Led Zeppelin's first album, released at the very start of 1969...
It's now over 51 years old, making its age the same as this was at its release...

Well, what about 2004 being now as old as 1988 was back then ? This means that Britney Spears' cover of "My Prerogative" is as old now... As the original was back:

This one is especially amusing: "In Bloom" is in 2020 as old now... ...as this was back then: Which is ironic considering "In Bloom"'s music video
