TL;DR
I don’t believe in God because I just find it very hard to believe he exists. I think the main reason people tend to believe in “heaven” or “hell” is probably because they want peace and they don’t want to be scared of death. Idk that’s just my guess.

***Warning: This is just my personal opinion. I respect other people's beliefs and i'm not suggesting that my views are correct.***
You hit the nail on the head. Religion is such a subjective concept that it's hard to draw the line and determine what is or what isn't fictitious. That's why I personally believe religion is a concept derived from people's longing for hope during desperate times. People want to believe in something which will look out for them and care for them when they are in need. That's all well and good, but it should only be in the form of spirituality, not religion. Religion opens itself up to cult-like tendencies and fuels false information in the form of facts.
I think religion itself is flawed. If love and acceptance were such important foundations in religion, then why is there such a divide among us? For instance, why are Christians so intolerant of Jewish people? It's ridiculous. There is no concrete evidence to suggest that God, or the presence of a higher-being, even exists and the Bible is full of hypothetical stories which have no real basis to society or our day-to-day lives. Any nutcase could form their own religion and pass down their beliefs onto others. It's an absolute joke that religious people strive for unity yet are so divided in their goal in achieving that.
I wouldn't normally be so blunt about this, but i'm just going to say it; I believe religion is bullshit. I'm sorry, but religion is hypocritically self-absorbed in it's own foundations of ignorance and intolerance. It's nothing more than a cult that preys on the lives of millions of people worldwide. Christianity itself is a complete face. Christians need to follow certain guidelines and practices (e.g attending Church, not cussing) so that they don't fracture their relationship God, yet many senior Catholic ministers rape children and conduct child abuse over many years. Millions of people suffer everyday on Earth, but if we believe in "God", everything is going to work out for the best? What a joke.
Like I've mentioned before, I do believe there is an after-life of some kind, but religion itself is unfounded and has no place in our society. We should be placing more of an emphasis on spirituality and staying true to your own set of moral beliefs and values. That's the only way we're ever truly going to achieve peace. Religion needs to be phased out.

Honestly, even if there was a “God” then he sure as hell isn't “good” because what kind of God lets some people live homeless, poor, and leave some others rich, and why is there still some inequality in the world? Do you know how awesome life would be if all we had to do to solve life’s problems was to pray to God? I used to do that when I was younger and trust me, I realized later in life that for me, it’s not about “God” it’s all about what I do. See, I don’t believe in God, I believe in myself. I believe I can accomplish whatever I put my mind into. And if you have to believe in God to go to to “heaven” and if you go to “hell” for not believing in him, then God isn’t good, he’s self-centered, that’s what he really is.

Such sense is being talked here.
I believe there is something out there. What exactly, I won't find out until my life ends. This is life's last secret. I certainly am not 'religious' though. When asked at the local hospital what religion I was I said 'None'.

I don't see how God can be "loving" or "caring" at all. There's so many awful things that happen in the world each and every day, yet we're supposed to believe in a man in the sky who has all of our best interests at heart? Such sense is being talked here. I believe there is something out there. What exactly, I won't find out until my life ends. This is life's last secret. I certainly am not 'religious' though.
