Thought I'd start a thread to see what you guys think of voiceover artists who have been (or are currently) on Australian TV.
My favourite is from the late Ken Sparkes.
I didn't like the guy (don't know his name) who was on Ten News from 2005-2008? I think Ten News Melbourne replaced him in 2006 with the guy whose does promos at Nine now.

Mine would be Ken Sparkes as well.

My favourite voiceover artist would have to be the late great Ken Sparkes as well. His voice was synonymous with the Nine brand. I know this person is quite often criticised for voicing Nine's primetime and "biggest TV event of the year" promos, but to be honest, I also like Nine's current long-time male voiceover (not sure what his name is). He has been with the network for at least twenty years.

Ken Sparkes would surely have to be Australia's best/most iconic voiceover artist of all time? I know this person is quite often criticised for voicing Nine's primetime and "biggest TV event of the year" promos, but to be honest, I also like Nine's current long-time male voiceover (not sure what his name is). He has been with the network for at least twenty years. Steve Britten is his name, I'm pretty sure he's been doing VOs on Nine since at least the Early 1990s. You or Zampakid may also remember him as being the guy who did the "Have you ever brought a video that wasn't quite right?" thing at the start of VHS tapes in the 1990s and Early 2000s! I'd probably have to add Matthew O'Sullivan (long associated with Seven, but moreso with Nine in recent years) and Jo Van Es (perhaps most well known for her work on Gogglebox & Common Sense Australia, but also a common female voice for advertising) as two personal favourites. One voiceover artist I'm not really keen on is the guy (who's name I unfortunately don't know) who does the "Live from our (city) headquarters..." Openers for Seven News with a style of voice which wouldn't be too out of place in a movie trailer!

Openers for Seven News with a style of voice which wouldn't be too out of place in a movie trailer! He would definitely have to be a strong contender for that title, in any case! Ah okay, that's interesting to know. I didn't realise that he has been working at the network for almost thirty years! I knew that he had been doing voiceovers for Nine since at least the Late '90s, because I can remember watching a few movie openers on YouTube that featured his voiceovers. Interesting to hear anyway. As for the 1990's/Early 2000s VHS intros, I can't say that I can recall seeing those, although i'm bound to have come across one at some point. If I were to rank my favourite voiceover artists, it would probably look something like this: 1. Ken Sparkes 2. Steve Britten 3. The WIN voiceover man 4. Kevin ___ (Forgot his surname, but he is/was NBN's longtime voiceover guy who did lineups and signposts). 5. The female voiceover in this recording. I'm not a fan of the voiceover artist who does the Openers for Seven News either. It sounds completely unprofessional and I can't believe Seven has persisted with it. I also don't like the voiceover artist who does a lot of Channel Ten's promos.

I knew that he had been doing voiceovers for Nine since at least the Late '90s, because I can remember watching a few movie openers on YouTube that featured his voiceovers. Yeah, Steve Britten probably would've been third behind Ken Sparkes and John Martin (another iconic Nine VO guy sadly no longer with us) for Nine Network voiceovers when he first started, but became a more prominent voice as Ken and John gradually decreased their workloads. WIN's most iconic voiceover artist is Tim Burdock, if that's who you're referring to. Kevin ___ (Forgot his surname, but he is/was NBN's longtime voiceover guy who did lineups and signposts). Kev Kellaway - don't think he's done any voiceover work since NBN/Nine stopped airing Lineups, but he still presents the Drive program on radio 2NUR-FM in Newcastle. The female voiceover in this recording Didn't hear a female voiceover in that clip but I think the female VO who WIN used for several years was Ann Burbrook, also known for playing the character of Roz Patterson in the first season of Blue Heelers. I'm not a fan of the voiceover artist who does the Openers for Seven News either. It sounds completely unprofessional and I can't believe Seven has persisted with it. Yeah. I get that Seven News wanted a voiceover artist which suited the current version of the theme music (which I still think should've been pulled off the air after 4-5 days like the 2014 theme music replacement attempt, but that's beside the point) and to compete with the likes of Matthew O'Sullivan and recordings from Peter Harvey on Nine, but the current voice of Seven News' Openers and some of their promos doesn't work at all IMO. I also don't like the voiceover artist who does a lot of Channel Ten's promos. Which one? There's Robbie McGregor, who's recent work for Ten (and radio 2CH here in Sydney during the 2014-16 "Happy Days" era) is considerably more chirpy than his distinctive 1990s/2000s style for SBS. And there's also the voiceover guy who's name escapes me right now (except I know he currently does the News Openers), but remember from his work for Nine + and radio 2UE circa 2012-16.
