I would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this. The Popedia Staff have been contemplating whether to assign colour codes based on staff roles and member ranks. For instance, if you have between 100-500 posts, your username would appear dark blue. You won't be able to change it voluntarily; it will only change to a different colour once you have reached a new post milestone (e.g 500 posts). The colour scheme would be like this: Administrator - Red Moderators - Green Full Members - Dark Blue Senior Members - Orange Popedia Pro - Gold Popedia Legend - Pink This is how it would look if staff members were only assigned multi-coloured usernames: This is how it could potentially look if all usernames were multi-coloured (source: Funjoint): Personally, i'm not entirely sold on the idea. I think it looks aesthetically unappealing and the different colours make the forum look "busy". However, with that said, if most members are supportive of the idea, I am more than happy to change it. What are your thoughts on it?

I think it's ok for staff only That's how a lot of sites have it.
But I'm not bothered if everyone has it or nobody does.

Staff only. It looks more chaotic with all of the different colors and I would rather be able to spot the staff members instantly. I don’t even care for colors to be honest but I do think italicized usernames or a certain color would be neat solely for the Legend member rank, as a goal to have for activity on the site.

I remember the "moderators having different coloured usernames" idea was brought up before, and I'm still against the idea since I know other forums that do something similar, and seeing a post with a red (or other colour) username gives the post more gravity and attention compared to one with a regular colour, and I would hate for that to happen here. I want my post to be given the same weight/attention as everyone else's.

Different colours for all, please and thank you. Why should the moderators and the executive mob have all the fun? You know my views on social equality!

I’m all for it tbh. Even though some of y’all may argue it would be hard to tell the difference between regular users and staff members, it’s no different than right now, when everyone’s username is the exact same color. If you don’t want colors, don’t change the color of your name.

I would vote yes only if a "not display colors" option is also promised with it. I want to setup a nice purple shade for the others to see, but I don't want to see eye-splitting bright colors everywhere.

I've looked into it and unfortunately there isn't a "not display colour" option available. Also, you wouldn't be able to choose your own username colour; the colour of your username would match up with your post rank. For instance, since you are a "senior member", you would have an orange username. When you become a "Popedia Pro", it would change to gold.

You wouldn't be able to change the colour of your username to whatever colour you want, as unfortunately there isn't an option to do that. The colour of your username would match up with your posting rank. For instance, you would have a gold username since you are a "Popedia Pro".

I’m picking no. I think quality should matter over quantity .

I always knew this future moderator talked sense
I say yes and in the 4 years I've had it like that, not one person has said they don't like it.
....but if it doesn't happen, not like I'm gonna open a vein

I should let my members know you've screenshotted them here, they may want royalties

I'd like to add my tuppence worth....
I like colours but, with my techy hat on, colour schemes can make or break a website's usability.
As a web user with colour blindness, too many similar colours can make the content unreadable for me. i just can't distinguish which colour is which. they all look the same to me. it can be a little embarrassing to have to ask someone to "find" the colour for me.
I'd also like to mention that colours may not have the same meaning across cultures. that's sth to think about if you're going for an international audience.
Just my thoughts.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. I must admit, I never considered it from the perspective of someone who may have colour blindness, so I really appreciate that you have shared how the changes would affect you personally. I know you mentioned that it can be a little embarrassing for you to ask someone to identify a colour (which I can understand), but if there's anything that we can do to improve your experience on the forum, please let myself or the other Popedia staff members know and we'll be happy to help.
