I'm not sure if I would actually regard this as one of the worst songs of the decade, but I believe this would definitely have to be one of the worst songs of 2018. It has been receiving a lot of radio airplay here. Incredibly, it hasn't charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at all, even though the song features vocals from Macklemore. Thought about making a bottom 10 as I know y'all hungry for these kinds of stuff 1. Robin Thicke ft. T.I & Pharell - Blurred Lines 2. Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better 3. Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass 4. 6ix9ine - GUMMO 5. LFMAO - Sexy and I Know it 6. Maroon 5 - Animals 7. Nicki Minaj - Anaconda 8. The Chainsmokers - Closer 9. Jason Derulo ft. Snoop Dogg - Wiggle 10. Liam Payne ft. Quavo - Strip That Down Bonus: Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall - Juju on That Beat (Vine thing, but still. Watch Me sounds like a masterpiece next to it). It seems like I'm more forgiving than most people here when it comes to hit songs, but those 11 songs are inexcusably terrible, terrible. I generally agree with those listings. The only song on that list i'm unfamiliar with is "GUMMO", but that's just because I haven't listened to it before.

That song is just completely awful. The other week I was at KFC having lunch and that song came on, I literally got up and left the restaurant.

You must really dislike it if you decided to leave the restaurant as soon as it came on! I probably would have just suffered in silence and try to ignore the song as much as possible.

How this song became the #2 song of 2010 is beyond me. It's HORRIBLE.

Just remembered that "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift sadly existed and should have been on my bottom list somewhere. Oh well, maybe next time. It's a truly horrendous song that is ugly and inept in every single area.

Here are some of my least favorite songs of this decade (at least what initially comes to mind). I'm sticking to stuff that was popular and got a lot of exposure.

Those are pretty controversial picks. Any particular reasons for some of them? Or is it just due to overexposure?

How this song became the #2 song of 2010 is beyond me. It's HORRIBLE. Not sure if we heard the same song, but "Need You Now" sounds like a fairly pleasant country pop song to me? I especially the rich arrangements if though it's a bit too bombastic sometimes. It's at least 100 times better than most bro-country songs.

Firstly, I thought there would be more than one Ariana Grande song, and second...yeah, how are all these modern dance classics worse than the trashiest trap songs and vacant EDM tracks??? My only explanation for some of them is that the more controversial choices were released during the worst stretch of his life, but even that fails to explain the songs before and after the mid-2010s.

In my opinion, this is one of the worst hit songs of this year. Lyrics have been mattering a whole lot more to me lately since I began writing them myself for Carlsbeat and another label, and “Rise” here has undoubtedly the most pitifully bland and obvious lyrics I’ve stumbled upon this year so far. It’s yet another needlessly defensive song that has absolutely nothing to say but, “fight the power”, and the music itself is just too Maroon 5 (a synonym for uninspired, coined by Todd in the Shadows) to lend any weight to that cliché. It’s quite a tell that this supposedly serious anthem of revolution lazily repeats syllables more than Liam Payne’s “Bedroom Floor”, a very tongue-and-cheek song that actually employed the gimmick effectively. In an era as bleak as this, tracks like “This Is America” and “No Tears Left to Cry” are far more interesting and insightful. “Rise” is just overly polished troll bait, much like P!nk’s “What About Us” last year.

Here’s another absolute turd from this year:
Ironically, despite being an uptempo, 2012-ish EDM song, this is easily Post Malone’s worst song to date, not any of his more traditional sing-rap songs. Malone and Preme breathe absolutely no life into this supposed club banger, the lyrics are clumsily sleazy, and worst of all, it rhymes “sushi from Japan” with “kick it Jackie Chan.” The latter phrase is super corny, but it would actually be charmingly innocuous if it were performed by somebody jollier and in a different context. Here though, it’s not only delivered without feeling, but it also idiotically equates Japan with China by implication, an association that has absolutely no business existing in 2018.

^Yeah, rarely have heard vocals so ridiculously disconnected from the production.
I guess I'm gonna use this thread to vent on songs I actually really dislike too...
If you weren't already aware, I really hate Jason Derulo. He's beyond generic and mediocre pretty much all across the board. When he tries to be catchy, he fails, when he tries to be emotional, he miserably fails. There isn't much of a personality to speak of when most of his stuff tries so hard to re-emulate Chris Brown of all things. And he made so much obnoxious crap in the mid-2010s with the exception of the suprisingly good "Want to Want Me". But "The Other Side" is a special kind of bad to me. Its uber genericness came out during an awful time where early-2010s style Electropop was on its way out and just exemplified the exact kind of songs people were tired of and moved over on more interesting EDM artists with fresh approaches like Avicii or Capital Cities. Doesn't help that the boring production coupled with his annoying performance fill me with dread everytime I listen to it. He's such a gaping hole of nothing

This is one of the rare instances where the US has actually benefited from it's general resistance to imported pop music! Anyhow, I completely agree with the points you raised. It's a very pedestrian composition based on a message without any substance whatsoever. Even if the lyrics had some sort of backstory or meaning (e.g rebelling against Trump's Presidency), it would improve the overall quality of the song considerably. I don't like "Jackie Chan" either, although i'm not sure if I would personally consider it to be Post Malone's worst song to date. I still think either "Rockstar" or "Psycho" would claim the title as the worst song he has released so far. Still, with that said, "Jackie Chan" has nothing in the form of quality. The lyrics are absolutely ridiculous and the vocals are awful. Just as a side note, one of my biggest pet peeves in music is songs which are named after people. I just think it completely tarnishes the legacy of the person. For instance, imagine (no pun intended) how awful it would be if there was a song called "John Lennon" or "Bob Dylan" and it was performed by a talentless jerk like Cardi B. In this case, it's a shame that Jackie Chan, one of the most influential and recognisable cinematic figures in the world, will now forever be associated with Post Malone, of all people. Jason Derulo's image is purely built on superficiality, in my opinion. I think it's telling that there is hardly any information about his personal life on the Jason Derulo Wikipedia page. He is completely inauthentic.
