Anyone else likes them?
What class do you like to play?

I guess so. I used to play quite a lot of the old classics, be it the Super Mario & Luigi series, the original Pokémon series, Skies of Arcadia (some may not be very familiar with this title but it was brilliant). I don’t play as much as I used to due other commitments, but I still enjoy them when I do have some time to myself.

I've never been much of a gamer, so I haven't really played too many RPGs through my lifetime. I'm pretty sure the first one I ever played was The Simpsons: Hit & Run. My Mum got a copy of it for me when she went over to Bali for a holiday back in 2004 and it quickly become one of my favourite games. Not sure if that would really be considered as being "old school" though, even if 2004 is over fifteen years ago.

If by old-school you mean Dungeons & Dragons stuff, I can't say I've played it before. The oldest RPG I've played was Chrono Trigger. Loved that game! I played Final Fantasy 3 as well, but it was on the DS.

Of course I love roguelike RPGs (they don't have to be made decades ago, I don't mind if they're recent but with a hint of throwback ) and I usually play something like a magic user or an assassin

Would Grand Theft Auto be considered as being a role-play series? If so, there's at least one RPG game that I play.

Would Grand Theft Auto be considered as being a role-play series? If so, there's at least one RPG game that I play. RPG elements at best, but on the whole IMO, no. Much like Zelda (this is very controversial amongst fans lol) and Mass Effect the RPG elements are very lite. The games try to mimic certain RPG aspects, but it fails. Stats mean very little to be honest, you can easily finish the entire games without putting any effort in raising any of them. I think, the games are more of the 'jack of all but master of none' type of games. I love the series nonetheless.

Haha, it can get quite confusing I must admit. GTA is commonly mistaken as such, and although it has elements of the genre, it’s not a traditional RPG in the sense.

You definitely can't compare the GTA series with something like Mario or The Legend of Zelda.

GTA SA is probably as remotely close from the series you’d get to an action-RPG. Its genre is action-adventure though. Heaps of the Mario games are RPGs but Zelda isn’t.
