I had wanted the thread title to be "how would you assess Ten's performance since CBS' acquisition?", but the thread title was unfortunately too long. That aside, I thought it would be interesting if we had a thread where we discuss our overall opinion of Ten since CBS achieved ownership of the station.
It has been almost 18 months since the ownership changed hands. In that time, several changes have been made to the network, both behind the scenes and on the screen. However, it could be said that many people's expectations haven't been met since the takeover and the network is still in a precarious situation where it is often rating behind the ABC.
Has the CBS ownership been a success? Do you think CBS could be doing more to improve the current state of the network? Also, would you consider the October 2018 network relaunch a success or a failure?
I personally think Network Ten under a CBS-ownership has been a bit of a mixed-bag. I appreciate the efforts to gradually strengthen the news division and to improve the network's finances, but I feel as though more could be done to improve the overall quality of it's programming output. Many of the mistakes that were being made under the previous ownership are still being made today, such as the inconsistent scheduling and delaying the finale of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here by several days. I would have expected a much higher standard under a CBS-owned Network Ten, if i'm being honest. These mistakes shouldn't still be happening on such a regular basis.
I would also consider the October 2018 relaunch to be an overall failure, as it has done nothing to strengthen the overall position and branding of the network. 10 News First was a huge mistake. In what way is the "First" applicable to anything? I also don't particularly like the look of the current Channel Ten logo. A relaunch of the logo was needed, but I don't think the current design was the right choice.

Mixed for me. I like how they're gradually improving the news division with small improvements without doing too much too quickly. I'm also a big fan of the new presentation package and logo, the adaptability of the logo is second to none IMO and they have done a great job showing how it can be used in many ways. I don't really read it, but I think that 10Daily is going ok as well. It seems as though they have the same programming people than before. I feel as though they need some new people there to freshen it up a bit as their ratings aren't exactly brilliant. I consider 'Pilot Week' as being a little bit of a failure as well, Trial By Kyle being given a full series was an appalling decision. Perhaps it's because the word pilot isn't really used too much in this country? Maybe people thought it was going to be a week of shows about aviation? Ten News First was certainly a bizarre name, it just has no meaning apart from preserving history. What does 'first' mean? I don't mind the presentation but the generic backdrop for local bulletins is awful. Some new sets would be nice but they did a great job making the current one look far more modern. Also like the use of the middle screen for the news updates.
