www.ariacharts.com.au/charts/singles-chartnztop40.co.nz/The ARIA and New Zealand charts were updated today. Here are a few points: * "Sad!" by Xxxtentacion has debut on the two charts. The song debuted at #19 in New Zealand and #33 in Australia. * Like the UK, "God's Plan" is still at the top of the charts. * "Chateau" by Angus & Julia Stone is gradually starting to slip out of the Top-50, with the song now at #41 (last week it was at #36).

Nothing interesting about this week’s UK chart except “Meant to Be” climbing up to #20, making it officially more successful there than “Cruise” was. “God’s Plan” is still turning into the next “One Dance”.

Do you also think that song could be the next Shape of You? I've listened to that song on Pandora and the radio over 30 times in the last 2 months.

That song was #1 on the charts for about 6 months, and it continued to dominate throughout the entire year of 2017.

www.ariacharts.com.au/charts/singles-chartnztop40.co.nz/The latest ARIA and New Zealand charts were released two days ago. A few observations: * Unsurprisingly, "God's Plan" is still at #1 on both charts. * "Stir Fry" is starting to drop down the ARIA chart. Last week it was at #24; now it's at #28. Meanwhile, across the Tasman, it has risen to #19 on the NZ Top-40. * "Sad!" has climbed to #10 on the New Zealand chart. In Australia, it has risen to #22. * Australia's 2018 Eurovision song debuted on the ARIA chart this week at #47. Also, just as a side note, The Bad Wolves' cover of "Zombie" has risen to #2 on the Australian iTunes chart. I listened to the song for the first time a few minutes ago, but I must admit, i'm actually not a fan of it. It's good to see it perform well on the charts though.

Oh my god, when is “God’s Plan” ever going to concede the top spot on the UK Singles Chart? It has literally been at #1 for all 9 weeks that it’s been on the chart. Seriously Brits, you have such diverse and quality taste in music, find something else to jam to already.
“Meant to Be” is at #12 there now.

I'm also a bit surprised that Bad Wolves' cover of "Zombie" isn't in the Top-100. I didn't expect it to be a Top-50 hit at all, however I thought it would have at least debuted on the lower-half of the chart.

www.ariacharts.com.au/charts/singles-chartNo prizes for guessing that "God's Plan" by Drake is still topping the charts here in Australia as well. It has been at the top of the charts for 8 weeks now! Speaking of songs with long chart-runs, "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran has set a new record; it has now spent a total of 25 weeks within the ARIA Top-10. Here are a few observations: * "Stir Fry" is continuing it's descent down the chart, now placing at #30. In New Zealand, however, it has remained at #19. * Taylor Swift's new single, "Delicate", has debuted at #56. Could this be an indication that Taylor's career is gradually on the decline? * Bad Wolves' cover of "Zombie" has just missed out on the Top-50. It is currently at #51 on the ARIA Chart.

Shawn Mendes just released two new songs, both of which currently occupy the top 2 spots on the American iTunes. They both sound pretty good, in my opinion. "Lost in Japan" integrates a lot of nice influences from late '70s funk into something nice and new. It's great to hear throwback songs from somebody other than Bruno Mars, whose voice I'm just not a fan of.
"In My Blood", on the other hand, is a rock song. It's not quite all the way like Bad Wolves because it has a synthesized downbeat thump, but it has a sort of resemblance to bands like Kings of Leon or other mainstream alternative bands popular around the late 2000s and early 2010s. Groundbreaking or not, it's certainly more welcome than any of the latest songs by Post Malone or nameless Soundcloud trap rappers.

I'm starting to get really sick of hearing "My My My". It's receiving a lot of radio airplay over here at the moment. I think it's interesting that a lot of current Top-40 artists are opting to incorporate rock influences into their music. I haven't listened to Shawn Mendes' two new songs yet, however I might give them a listen when I get a chance.

I've just been listening to his new songs today and while i don't like "Lost In Japan" a whole lot, I really like "In my Blood". Hopefully it does well on the charts, although evidently the standards aren't very high these days.
