I got the idea for this after seeing the tweets that rainbow shared on the Popedia Discord chat. Basically, I want this to serve as a time capsule to how people perceive 2016 in the year 2019. It will be interesting to see whether people's opinions will change in a few years time. Are you nostalgic for 2016?
I voted "no". I'm personally not nostalgic for 2016 at all. I know this sounds kind of silly in retrospect, but 2016 was the first year where I felt as though pop culture was gearing more towards an age group younger than myself. Not that it really matters anyway, because even if I had felt as though I was in the core target audience for pop culture at the time, 2016 was still a pretty crap year for it in any case. I would even go as far as saying that 2016 was the worst year for music since the Early '60s. As for myself personally, I wasn't in a great frame of mind for most of the year, particularly around July 2016.

I'm wondering what's the fuzz around 2016 lately? It's easily the biggest black sheep of this decade to the point it became a meme that the year itself was some sort of a killer monster with consciousness near the end of it. No other year managed to be this hated as far as I can remember so I'm very surprised to see people showing some newfound fondness for it out of all years.
And while my personal life was much better in 2016 than say 2014, I don't have much nostalgia for it yet. The fact that the year was very mediocre and bland for pop culture, completely overshadowed by the desperate state that the political world was heading into and dozens or so celebrity deaths making the headlights, didn't really help much.
I see virtual reality like Pokemon Go and VR headsets skyrocketing in popularity as a way of escapism more as symptomatic of how that year was actually made up rather than a happy occurence.

No because I had a cancer scare that year.

As a poll? Pretty much everyone will say no... kind of pointless

2016 was the best year of my (late) childhood. There is no question about it.

Honestly, I think the main reason for it is that people are starting to feel nostalgic for a pre-Trump era. They're starting to become fond of a time when Trump didn't make the news headlines every evening, or when the US wasn't as politically divided as it is today. Pop music was also a bit more upbeat at the time. I do agree with what you're saying though. There's very little to like about 2016 and to a lot of people, it was probably the year "from hell". Most of the people who seem to have any nostalgia for 2016 though, at least from what I've noticed, are people who were in their late childhood/early teenage years at the time.

That's still overwhelmed by those who aren't nostalgic for 2016. I mean it was only 3 years ago, plus many of 2016 culture is still relevant in 2019.

I think those who are nostalgic for 2016 may have been kids back then

I was still in high school in 2016, it was a less stressful time compared to now in college. Despite all the politics and tragic celebrity deaths, I did enjoy the pop culture of 2016. I do miss the time where Tropical House was popular and a few Trap songs on the charts.

I get what OP is trying to say, having been born in the late 80s I was able to witness the 1996 & 2006 shifts, the 2016 one was similar in that regard as it was a SMALL slow shift.
2016 had a kind of big shift with Trump and some little shifts with some musical acts changing and tv going lighter instead of the dystopian genre. Other than that I would say no......there is not really anything to be nostalgic about in 2016, the year was rather dark for the most part. It was the same thing with 96 & 06 having small minute little shifts, but unlike 2016 those years are nostalgic.

I'm starting to get a little bit of nostalgia for it, especially the summer and late 2016.
