Yeah, Hybrid Theory was my favorite CD when I was growing up. I would literally put that thing on and listen to the whole thing while playing my PlayStation 2. When Meteora came out, I was like 15 and at the height of my teen angsty era, so I actually went out and got that on premiere day at our local electronics store. It's amazing how much things were still like the old days back then, with kids still having to actually go to the store to buy new records when they came out.

These are some of my favourite songs from the genre: One of Hybrid Theory's standout tracks, IMO. This is a guilty pleasure.

Lately i've been massively into Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory EP and pre-HT demos, they're so much better than the tracks found on Hybrid Theory and Meteora IMO. "Slip" would have to be one of my favourites.

I used to be ashamed of liking Limp Bizkit during the mid '00s when there was a huge backlash to them, but looking back they did have some good stuff. To me, My Way or the Highway is still a kickass song. They basically became everybody's favorite group to make fun of after the whole rap rock stuff stopped being cool.

I admit I do dig the experimental side of Linkin Park. And I think that says a lot, it was never about the nu-metal for me; what I liked about them was how avant-garde they tried to be, while still remaining pretty accessible to average listeners.

To me, My Way or the Highway is still a kickass song. They basically became everybody's favorite group to make fun of after the whole rap rock stuff stopped being cool. Fred Durst is the one turn-off for me when it comes to Limp Bizkit. It's something I can't get past. When you listen to their songs, the actual instrumentals are quite good for the most part, but it's Fred Durst's immature, "tough guy" image that really ruins their music and puts me off from wanting to explore Limp Bizkit's discography further. Plus, they were never amazing lyricists either. It's easy to see why they were the "punching bags" of nu-metal, tbh. Their music generally hasn't aged well and it pretty much embodies all of the things about nu-metal that people disliked. I admit I do dig the experimental side of Linkin Park. And I think that says a lot, it was never about the nu-metal for me; what I liked about them was how avant-garde they tried to be, while still remaining pretty accessible to average listeners. True, but Warner Bros. Records prevented them from reaching their full potential IMO. It's a shame, because they were clearly quite capable of achieving so much more had they not been under strict creative restraints by their record label. What the final result ended up being was a band who tried to push the boundaries wherever they could, but ultimately couldn't due to the need to be radio-friendly and easily accessible. I don't think I would be able to listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora in full anymore. After listening to all of their EP and pre-HT demo recordings, both those albums feel incredibly watered-down and generic to me. The fact that "And One", "Carousel" and "Part of Me" were dropped in favour of songs such as "Crawling", "Points of Authority" and "With You" kind of feels like an insult.

This is why you need to listen to A Thousand Suns.
