Have you ever watched a movie that you liked when you were a child and thought to yourself, "how on earth was this ever considered appropriate for kids to watch?" It can be interesting to re-watch movies that you liked as a child, because once you get older, you view them from a different perspective.
What are some questionable movies from your childhood that you can think of?

One example I can personally think of is the 2002 film, Scooby Doo. I actually happened to watch a part of the movie last night and in retrospect, it's a pretty crappy movie adaptation of a cartoon series that is so beloved by many. There's so many things from that movie which are questionable. For instance, Shaggy's girlfriend in the movie is a girl named Mary Jane and the entire plot revolves around a demon which steals the souls of hundreds of tourists. Also, Velma started to work for NASA during Mystery Inc.'s two year break, apparently. I used to love that movie when I was a kid, but watching it now just makes me realise how ridiculous it truly is. I can see why the movie received mostly negative reviews when it was released.

The Cat in the Hat (2003):
Believe it or not, I went to watch that film at the Cinemas and I enjoyed it at the time. I re-watched it a few months ago and... there is a lot questionable moments.
For instance, The fact that The Cat said "Dirty hoe..." and proceeds to lick it which kids won't understand the moment. When The Cat see's a picture of the kids mum and his hat grows longer implying he's having a erection, like WTF? And he named his old car: Super Hydraulic Instantaneous Transporter which it's nicknamed "shit" which adults understand but kids may not.

I must have watched that movie a hundred times, I'm not exaggerating. I got most the dirty jokes too.

Yeah, "The Cat in the Hat" is definitely a good example. I haven't watched it in years though, so I can't really remember what happens in the movie.

The Cat in the Hat (2003) I have a vague memory of seeing this movie when it came out, although haven't watched it in years. Probably most PG-rated family movies in the 2000s had at least one or two "adult" jokes that would fly over kids' heads and keep parents awake in the cinema.

True, although I think that trend can actually be traced as far back as the Early-Mid '90s. I decided to watch the original Toy Story movie on Saturday night (as there was nothing else on) and I picked up on quite a few "adult" jokes in the movie which I was never aware of as a kid.

No idea about movies, but I did figure out 13 years ago that they tend to sneak in lots of dirty jokes in kid shows.

Son of The Mask (unfortunately). "A FAMILY PICTURE!" That movie didn't scare me as a kid, I found it silly. I think I last watched it when I was 3 or 4. It's a horrible movie, one of the all time worst

I feel bad for any kid that will grow up watching The Emoji Movie as one of their childhood movies, like I did with SOTM. Even worse if their childhood crush is/was Jailbreak.

True, but you're saying that as someone who was a teen when The Emoji Movie was released. I'm sure there were a lot of people who cringed at the Scooby Doo movies and the "Cat In The Hat" when they were new. Who knows, the kids of today might look back on The Emoji Movie really fondly when they grow up.

Yeah, but I was able to tell when a movie is gonna be bad, and I didn't see the movie in theaters.
