More remakes on the way from Disney. Home Alone is the latest to receive the treatment it seems. Are all these remakes really necessary of late? How about more originality instead.

Disney run out of originality? I mean remaking a newly made film like Night at the Museum is just weird... And more recently Lion King.

What's the point of remaking Home Alone other than a lot of cash for Disney? Can't they just leave alone a classic movie?
I don't understand how the plot would be realistic in this day in age anyway.

It’s just a cash grab and no more. People will watch them so they will just continue doing this unfortunately. What's the point of remaking Home Alone other than a lot of cash for Disney? Can't they just leave alone a classic movie? I don't understand how the plot would be realistic in this day in age anyway.Yeah, as I read on one comment earlier: “it’d be 2 minute short as Kevin texts his mom that he is at home and she pays for an Uber to get him to the airport, they meet. The End”.

Ummm there have already been tons of low quality Home Alone sequels?! Pretty sure Diary of a Wimpy kid is similar, though perhaps more pathetic because it’s no older than a whole decade.
At this point there’s not really anything to say we haven’t yet. Rather than take the risk of a new idea, they’d rather have a guarantee, even if the potential payoff isn’t as large as with a brand new franchise. It’s a shame though, because we’re living in a day in age where there’s more media available and ideas floating around than ever. There’s more leeway to stand out, and audiences are growing increasingly receptive to new ideas. But no.

tbh I don't even care about Disney anymore. After Endgame came out I got my fill on super hero movies. Even their animated movies are starting to become mediocre and bland.

Disney is now going through a second dark age. All these remakes will make Disney lose their magic.

You still have to keep in mind that people are still going to see these cash grabs just for the nostalgia right?

Disney has also announced that it will be remaking Lady and the Tramp. The first trailer for the movie was released just a few days ago: As for my thoughts on this, I agree with what everyone has said so far. One wonders what Walt Disney would think of all of these remakes if he were alive to see what the corporation has evolved into. Like ItsMichael said though, I could see these new movies performing well for the company and that will only encourage Disney to commission even more remakes. Announcing a remake of Diary of a Wimpy Kid is truly ridiculous though. It already has a reboot and it is just over two years old.
