Does it even matter? I will forever consider 2007 my core childhood. No matter what anyone else's shitty definitions say. Well yeah, age 5 is core childhood. I think core childhood is 5-8.

I was born in 2000, and I can relate to those born in 1998 and 1999. I dont know about 1997 though. They were seniors in high school when I was a freshman in high school. Well, it depends on each person. He must be saying that cause someone 4 years older than him was born in 1993, which is the same decade as him, but I was born in a different millennium, even though if I was born five days earlier on December 31, 1999, he would maybe claim that he can relate to me. Anyways, thats all I can say. I can relate to 2004, and to an extent 2005 babies. It's stupid to say that they relate more to 1993 babies though. 93' babies never attended middle or high school with those born in 1997 (except for late 1993 babies), and 1993 babies spent most of their childhood before 9/11 while 1997 babies weren't even in school then. When were you born? Yeah, I can see your point. I was born on January 5, 2000, so that is like me saying I relate better to 2009 than 1999. I have a sister born on November 5, 1996, and I relate better to her than someone born in 2008 despite 2008 is the same decade as me and not 1996. I dont really hang out with any 1996 born people except for my sister though, so no idea if I actually can relate to other 1996 people, but I relate to my sister though. I mean yeah, 1997 started primary school only in 2002. They were in school during 9/11, but it was preschool, not elementary. I think late 90s, those born from September 96-December 99 can relate to us early 2000s babies. I am just five days older than the youngest 99 baby. I guess it depends on the person. Not everyone is the same. I hear people born in early-mid 90s who claim to relate better to those born in the 70s than early 2000s, which is bizarre.

I can agree with that, since you start primary at age 5. So my core childhood was pretty much almost the full 2005-2008 since I was born on January 5, 2000. The perks of being born on January 2000.

I relate perfectly to 1998-2002. I just keep everything within two years. My sister despite three years older than me is an exceptional probably cause I grew up with her. I havent actually spent enough time around 1997 or other 1996 to say whether or not I relate to them. I have a brother born in 1994 though, but I cant relate to him though. Honestly someone born in like late 99 should almost feel like someone born in early 2000.

I was born on January 5, 2000, so I am not even a week older than someone born on December 30, 1999. What month in 1999 were you born in?

2 is a toddler. Childhood begins when kindergarten starts. Age 2-4 is toddler, though sometimes, toddlerhood is included as part of childhood. Toddler and baby arent the same thing, do keep that in mind.

Those of us on these boards/with this particular interest actually seem to have exceptionally good memories for our respective ages by remembering the year we turned three. In reality, most people by their teens even have difficulty remembering age four. I've come across many who by adulthood can barely remember first grade; it's bizarre for those of us with decent early childhood memories to encounter those who can't remember much before age seven, but trust me, they're out there. So realistically, age three is already a stretch. But if you're a unicorn who has vivid memories from two, congrats, have a virtual cookie.

I have a close friend who is only five months younger than me and he can barely remember anything before the age of 8. He even said to me once that he couldn't even imagine what it would be like to live in a world where YouTube doesn't exist, which is pretty bad given the fact that we were 6 years old when YouTube was launched.

So realistically, age three is already a stretch. But if you're a unicorn who has vivid memories from two, congrats, have a virtual cookie. That is actually true. It is super hard to remember before age 5. My older sister born in late 1996 cant remember life before 2002 which means she cant remember life before 9/11. My older brother born in 1994 cant remember life before he was 6. I mean there are many who cant remember before 10. That is why memory is so dynamic like that for each person. I guess I must be that youngest sibling in the family who has that exceptional memory to make up for my sibling’s lack of memory for toddlerhood and babyhood. To be honest, I was skeptical that I had a vivid memory in 2002 when i was 2, but it was my first day of preschool, so well, I think we can all agree memory isnt the same for everyone.
