I wasn't sure which section to put this thread, so I just put it into the pop culture section. Feel free to move it if it belongs somewhere better.
If you guys haven't heard of Vlare, it's basically an alternative site to YouTube. It was released earlier this year back in May 2019. Since YouTube has mostly become a website to make money, Vlare is basically an alternative.
With how downhill YouTube is getting, and especially with their outrageous COPPA laws set to take place in January 2020, it wouldn't actually surprise me if YouTube started to decline and something like Vlare got more popular and replaced it. I've said this for about a couple years now, but I always believed that one day YouTube will finally decline and something better is gonna replace it. It could be Vlare for all we know, but I don't see YouTube being as popular as it is now in even ten years.
What do you guys think?

I too see YouTube declining, at least in the way Facebook has. It’s so big that I’m doubtful there will be one direct cause as much it will be an accumulation of things, but this is a start. One potential detractor for YouTube, one that wasn’t so easy even early this decade, is how easily a content creator can link to new sites from other large platforms. For example, I learned about Twitch after being sent their by some creators I follow on ig, and the same goes for Patreon years ago. I’m not really suggesting either of those are a threat for YT as much as they represent increasing ways around the system. The site is not the same necessity as it was, or at least that seems to be the direction we’re heading in. It has gotten frustrating for many creators and less enjoyable for many viewers. Imo they need to focus more on user experience or else smaller companies with less to lose are going to start stealing market share.

I hope it has the same phenomenal effect that early YouTube had (it probably won't, but hey, a guy can dream, right? )

Tbh I think it will go under by next year. Video sharing is not a profitable business, that is why no serious contender has bothered to come after YouTube's paper crown.

Question: Are people uploading movies to Vlare? I'm only hopping over if I can watch The Sure Thing without it being in a tiny box and slowed down to 0.75.
