Just interested to hear other people's thoughts on this. Could it be due to the e-boys/girls trend growing in popularity and resulting in renewed interest in emo as a result, or is the emo scene that distant from the present time now that people are simply nostalgic? Maybe it's a bit of both? I would personally be more inclined to say that it's the latter. I haven't seen much of the praise or focus coming from teens, rather, most of it seems to be coming from twenty-something year olds.

I have not noticed any renewed talk of emo at my place.

Emo looked like it was making a comeback in the mid-2010s, but not anymore. I liked Joyce Manor.

Yeah I don’t think emo will make a comeback. At least not in this decade.

Emo looked like it was making a comeback in the mid-2010s, but not anymore. I remember me and my friends would call bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Pierce The Veil etc. "emo" and they rose in popularity around 2014/2015. In a sense, emo never really went away, it's just the rock sub-culture that has fallen out of favour.

Yeah it’s been making a comeback wtf 😂 nostalgia is a big play but from seeing older people I notice some teens go with the style, it’s not always gonna be 100% like it was back in the day but it’s growing, a bunch of articles and me just seeing people with the style prove it. If it does make a huge comeback this would be the perfect decade for it.
Idk if you guys have it in Australia but there is these clubs in the states called emo nite and every major city has em every month and it’s packed with a mixture of really goth and emo looking people, average looking joes and wannabes. It’s pretty fun ngl XD
I have risen from the dead just to say all this happy late New Years you guys lol.

We don't actually have any clubs named that, but apparently there are "emo nite" branded-events held at certain pubs/clubs in Sydney and Melbourne once a month as well, so ours are pretty similar to the ones held in the US by the sound of things. I haven't heard of them before, tbh. Anyway, it's nice to hear from you again as it's been a while! How have you been?

SharksFan99 , would you consider Billie Eilish's style a modern iteration of a grunge style? Not her music, which is pop, but her fashion style, which I see as an imitation of Kurt Cobain. To answer this threads question, I don't think emo is making a comeback at all outside of nostalgic acts catering to those who came of age in the '00s. The whole e-boy shit that is coming out of the woodworks as of now has nothing to do with it, as that subculture presents itself as far more trendy and hip, which is completely different from emo. E-boys have far more in common with "wiggers" (I hate that word, is there a better term I could use?) than emos. Also, the term "emo rap" needs to die, there is nothing "emo" about that sub-genre.

To the extent that Emo is making a comeback, it's mostly because the group that like it as high schoolers are around 30, and the group that liked it as junior high schoolers are most in their 20s, so it's at that peak point for a comeback. It will probably only get bigger as the '20s go along, with '00s nostalgia as a whole getting bigger.
