@loosebolt has come up with the interesting idea that in addition to the atmosphere threads which are typically only based on teenagers, we should also have ones which focus on the eras from an adult or child's perspective. This could definitely be achievable as we are all of different ages and our perceptions would differ as a result. However, if we were to decide to create ones based on a kids perspective, the only way I could see it working would be if members would be willing to share photos of themselves. Posting photos of random kids is a definite no-no and not something I would ever suggest us doing. The topics wouldn't "atmosphere"-based threads in the traditional sense. They would be just like the existing "Childhood Photos" thread in the Say Cheese...! sub-forum, with the only difference being that they would be from certain years (rather than from whenever). For instance, we could have a "Post your 2004 pics" thread or a "Post your Mid 2000s pics" one. That leads me to my next point. Should we have topics based on sharing photos from individual years or from certain eras? I personally lean more towards the former, because if we were to have a thread based on sharing photos from the Early 2010s (for example), you could potentially have photos from 2010 mixed in with ones from 2013. You wouldn't get as good on an insight into the trends from certain years as you would if the threads were based on the individual years. However, with that said, creating them individually would mean that there would be so many different threads. I wouldn't have an issue with that honestly, but that's just my own opinion. What does everyone think?

I’d be up for individual years for this thing, and indeed we shouldn’t try to subdivide it further into months like the normal atmosphere threads. I actually already have a 2004 photo all queued up and ready to go.

But, trust me when I tell you that you wouldn't want to see a picture of me from 2004. Let's just say I was still in the midst of my rebellious phase back then.

Was that when you had your soul patch?  I may or may not post in those threads. I prefer to share pics when I'm feeling comfortable rather than when prompted.

Well it seems like more people prefer the idea of the threads being based on individual years. Just out of curiosity, who thinks they might choose to take part in these threads? There's at least two of us (myself included) who have decided that they will and I know @slowpoke1993 you've said that you're unsure if you will or not. Anyone else? I'm just wondering if it's still worthwhile to create them.

I won't be sharing photos anyway because I am a very private person and because there aren't a lot of photographs of me, especially from childhood and youth. When you look like me, the last thing you want is a camera at large!

I’d def share. ooh what if it was a new sub board in “say cheese”? That might not be a bad idea actually as the threads would all be grouped together. I think it's worth doing. I'm not sure what we would call the new sub-board though.

If it was anything less than ten, I would agree that we wouldn't need a new sub-board for these topics, but we could end up in a scenario where we have 15+ threads all with the same thread titles. They would be more convenient to find if they were grouped together and it would mean that the existing Say Cheese! sub-board wouldn't be flooded with these threads. All in all, it just depends on the level of interest in having these topics.

Yeah my concern with this is having a ton of threads with only a few posts taking over and then eventually getting lost. I’m really into though I already found some good pics.

It's hard to say, we're all of different ages, so it wouldn't be out of the question to have threads ranging from the Late '90s to the Early 2010s. That's at least 16 different threads in itself.

I think a good compromise could be for us to start creating them in the Say Cheese! board and see what the level of interest is like first. If several people are choosing to take part in these threads and multiple threads are being created, then we can maybe look into the possibility of creating a separate sub-board for them.

Yeah they could always be moved later if it’s a problem. I do have 90’s photos but don’t mind starting with just 2000’s if that’s easier.
