Must be our attempt to try and claim Jacinda Ardern as our own. Don't let her leave.

I heard suicide rate is going up, likely because of stress and loss of hope due to this evil virus

I mean some of them have no choice to, the economy is going under and that's even worse than the virus.

I mean some of them have no choice to, the economy is going under and that's even worse than the virus. I understand the economic burden, but even then, there are still some states that don't have enough testing kits for every person (unless you're symptomatic or need to be contact traced, but half of all cases are asymptomatic). I just fear that a deadlier second wave in the summer, fall and/or winter will put us back to square one again.

Everything Western governments have been doing is reactive, just responding to yesterday's crises. There are no proactive measures being taken to prevent future outbreaks and crises. They're just opening things up and leaving luck to heaven. The virus is always moving two steps ahead. :/

I give my condolences to the adolescents and university students that have to miss potentially memorable school days due to this, I know how frustrating it must be. This isn't normal.
I'm really happy this didn't happen when I was still a student. I seriously cherish my school memories, bruh.

I mean some of them have no choice to, the economy is going under and that's even worse than the virus. Dude, we're at almost 100,000 dead in the U.S. Like, almost double the number dead as from the Vietnam War, a war that spanned two decades, in just a couple of months. I would rather the economy take a hit than see the dead continue to pile up. A recession is not worse than that scale of human loss.

I would rather the economy take a hit than see the dead continue to pile up. A recession is not worse than that scale of human loss. It's a no win situation. If we lock down, we may save lives, but we won't save the economy - a depression means more than just rich people losing their money. And if we don't, the economy will still be trash, and more people will lose lives. There's just no easy way out of this. Either kill more and maybe slightly help the economy, or save more people for a short period but then they'll probably be homeless (they can't just print money to give to everyone, they'll run out). It's a lose lose situation: a pandemic that will likely last at least another year, and an economic crisis that has a good chance of getting to Great Depression levels of bad. It's horrible.

We can't print money due to inflationary concerns, but we could suspend mortgage and rent payments until the crisis is over. I'm not sure why people aren't even considering that option when we were somehow willing to dole out $1,200 per taxpayer and $500 for their dependents, which itself cost trillions in national debt and for most Americans is barely even scratching the surface anyway.
The interesting thing is most other developed nations are not facing the same economic crisis, including those who are locking down their states even more stringently than we are. So there must be some key difference there that we're missing. Wonder what it could be.

I think all states should just open, and people should just wear face masks and wash their hands frequently. Even now, too many people are defying the lockdown, so at this point, we should all just end the lockdown and get on with our lives and just protect ourselves from getting infected. I mean we cant keep living like this. This lockdown has caused me lots of problems, and I cant take it anymore.
