So we're just going to assume that only those four million people will want vaccines? I mean those four million people are the priority before anyone else. Once those four million people are cured, nobody else will be infected with the virus anymore. Unless they've spread it to other people in the interim. Because it's, y'know, a pandemic.

Unless they've spread it to other people in the interim. Because it's, y'know, a pandemic. Like I said, only those who will end up infected. Just to be safe, there should be ten million doses even though it is likely the number of active cases will remain below ten million once the vaccine comes out.

Victoria also recorded its highest number of total new cases since the pandemic began, reporting 127 new cases and 2 deaths over the past 24 hours.
I feel sorry for the people who live on the towns right on the NSW/VIC border, especially Albury-Wodonga in particular. The two cities have a combined population of just under 100,000 people and it is one of the biggest regional cities in Australia, so cutting the cities in half is going to pose a lot of issues for the people who live there.

If there is one good thing that I could say, is that the confirmed cases are likely 5x to 10x higher, due to the lack of testing and asymptomatic carriers.

Honestly, I am kind of disgusted about how air travel went up from 10% to 25% now in the United States, and yet, they cant open indoor dining, gyms, and movie theaters. I think those places should be open, but air traveling shouldnt go up until the vaccine arrives, since air traveling is basically what will increase the cases.

They can't open up small businesses but people can protest in large ass groups lol. And apparently the media is saying there was no coronavirus spike as a result from the protests? I find that hard to believe. If it's actually true, then what the hell was the point of lockdown?

Honestly, this lockdown should end, and businesses should be open in limited capacities, but air travel should not increase until a vaccine comes since that involves people coming from different regions.

Jeez, that's bad. They also broke their record again for the highest number of cases recorded in a single day; 191 confirmed cases over the past 24 hours.
I feel bad for the people in Melbourne who have been following social-distancing rules during the course of this pandemic, but on the other hand, maybe this is what needed to happen for the message to truly start sinking in with people. People had been becoming way too complacent with maintaining a distance from others and continuing to follow good hygiene practices.

I feel bad for the people in Melbourne who have been following social-distancing rules during the course of this pandemic Me. It's disappointing that they have to do this again, but yeah people don't listen. I live in an area which is quite far from the hotspots, so I guess thats ok for now. I see people are always out having gatherings and going out on social media. It's concerning.

Let's just hope the state government can start to get on top of this and the number of cases will begin to go down in the next couple of weeks. I think the thing that really surprised me though was hearing that Victoria has imposed a "Stage 3" lockdown for the entire metropolitan area. I get the reasoning for it, but a further six weeks of lockdown is going to be catastrophic for businesses and its going to take even longer now for Victoria's economy to recover to the level it was at prior to the pandemic. The message throughout all this has been about the need to create more jobs after the lockdown ended and the national cabinet even stated a week or two ago that the likelihood of a widespread lockdown ever being enforced in the future was quite low, and yet, here we are.

Can this virus EVER let up? Nope, and it will wreck havoc on our society until there's a vaccine or everyone got infected (which is next to impossible).

I live in a hotspot, and in one of the most competitive job markets.

This is definitely NOT what we need right now! What we do need is a vaccine for COVID so we can all go back to our normal lives. I live in Victoria, Australia, and, as of tonight, all of metropolitan Melbourne, my town included, will be back in 'Stage 3' lockdown for another six weeks. Won't be able to go out unless it's for exercise, essential shopping or a medical appointment. All the businesses that were starting to re-open will have to close again. Don't know how they're gonna cope with a second shutdown. The border between Victoria and New South Wales has been closed for the first time in 100 years (the last time it was shut was back in 1918 during the Spanish Flu pandemic). Anyone needing to cross the border has to have a permit.
