This is sort of a copycat thread but I wanted to make this thread because I've seen some comments on other places in the web that said 2010 and 2011 were no different from the 2000s and I strongly disagree with that. Personally, I think 2011 is definitely closer to 2016 than 2006. Here's why:
2006 only had flip phones while 2011 had iPhone sales soaring up than ever before.
2006 was all about crunk, pop punk, post-grunge while 2011 was all about electropop, indie pop, dubstep/EDM, and early trap songs.
MySpace was the one of the only social media sites of 2006. MySpace was dead and Facebook was king in 2011.

2011 slightly leans to 2016. But even 2011 is so different from 2016.
