That’s not quite what I mean. It just increasingly feels like we’re no longer active participants, whether in a cultural dialogue or in life in general. Nothing but passive consumption of the same old garbage repackaged in slightly different colors.

So far, 2020 looks better than 2019 in terms of popular music thanks to Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, and The Weekend. That Doja Cat song will reach the top ten in no time!

I know it's still only early days, but I personally have the opposite opinion; I much prefer the music that was on the charts last year. In fact, i'm actually starting to lose interest in the Top-40 charts at the moment simply because there's so few songs that I actually like.
