Also at Nine, the regional bulletins (although updates will remain on-air, presumably to meet local content requirements) and local afternoon bulletins have been suspended until further notice, with those resources being redeployed into the production of special late night bulletins and keeping the main 6pm news on-air.

The coronavirus pandemic would no doubt be impacting the finances of networks all across the country, but I don't think the situation is as dire as what the regional media broadcasters are leading us to believe. Has there ever been a time where Prime Media Group, WIN Corp and Southern Cross Austereo haven't pleaded for more money? They may be based in regional Australia, but these are massive organisations in their own right. They own assets outside of the traditional television stations, such as WIN owning both i98fm and C91.3. I'm sure Bruce Gordon could also dip into his pockets more if his network's financial situation was so bad. Honestly, I don't have any sympathy for the three media groups. We're not talking about small businesses based in the bush...

Don't forget that Southern Cross Austereo is largely a radio company, in which they own the Hit & Triple M stations in both metro & regional markets. They have just recently bought more radio stations in Regional WA. Having said that, they do own TV licences in much of regional Australia though. As for Prime, its failed merger with Seven that was voted down by the former's shareholders (mostly by Bruce Gordon & Antony Catalano) last December could've had its TV licences in a much better shape than where they are at now. Little did we know at the time that having the merger being voted down could see Prime being at the brink of collapse just a few months later.
