Looking back (and I know i'm bias, lol), 2006 was actually a pretty decent year for kids movies: * "Night At The Museum" * "Monster House" * "Hoodwinked" * "Happy Feet" * "Over The Hedge" * "Open Season" * "Ice Age: The Meltdown" * "The Ant Bully" Pretty good for a year that is universally loathed. C'mon people, where's the nostalgia posts for movies like "Open Season" and "Over The Hedge"? The Mid 2000s really are overlooked. Anyhow, these are all movies that I was into as a 7 year old kid at the time. Excuse me sir I think you neglected the magnum opus of the year CARSI hated those commercials and that movie

Maybe the mid-2000s were just kid-oriented after all and not teen unlike what some like to believe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Otherwise why would so many teens of back then despise them unlike the teens of the early 00s 🤔 Also look at this wonderland that were the mid-00s 🤤:

depends on your age, all of those movies you listed are for children and in 2006 I was a teenager, 2006 pop culture wise was amazing, just on the movie front had no heavy hitters Well that's true, but 2006 was also the year that movies such as "RV" (which features the late great Robin Williams), "Blood Diamond" and "Superman Returns" were released. I personally think it was a good year for movies overall, however it's all subjective. Excuse me sir I think you neglected the magnum opus of the year Is it bad that I never actually liked "Cars" as a kid? Seriously, it never once took my interest, I only watched it for the first time when our teacher put it on in class when I was in Year 6, lol. Maybe the mid-2000s were just kid-oriented after all and not teen unlike what some like to believe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Otherwise why would so many teens of back then despise them unlike the teens of the early 00s 🤔 I've never implied that there wasn't anything orientated towards kids. Also, can you really blame the teens of the Mid 2000s for not liking the era? They were teens when Jessica Simpson, Simple Plan and Lindsay Lohan were popular. I feel sorry for them.

I just asked like 2 friends from the mid 2000s if they miss the era and they said yeah lol Most people my age miss the mid 2000s. Ughhh don't remind me of Superman Returns....................... nooooooooooo

I saw the movie when it first came out, liked it for 10 seconds, and then lost all interest. I just wasn't into cars in general when I was young.

With teenagers it's a hit or miss. I liked the early 2000s as a kid, but if I was a teen I would probably have a similar opinion as @bchris02 and not hold it in high esteem. Actually, I distinctly remember disliking the early 2000s (except 2000) as it was ongoing. It's only now that I'm grown up that I look back on it as a simpler time. But when I was a kid I was definitely upset when my mom forced me to do homework or go to tutoring instead of playing with my friends, and I would blast "I'm just a kid and my life is a nightmare, nobody cares because I'm alone and the world is having more fun than me" by Simple Plan to soothe the pain.

I don't recall myself ever bashing the early '00s. I look back fairly fondly on 2000-03 (with the exception of Summer 2001 when I had my first real crush). I really liked the music at the time. The mid '00s were rougher for me as I was experiencing them. Anyways, I voted 2004 for the purposes of this poll.

I remember you saying your parents didn't let you make friends with your crush or something to that effect.

I remember you saying your parents didn't let you make friends with your crush or something to that effect. Yeah...actually he lived a couple hours away. It was more that a long distance friendship back then, especially during the dial-up era (we both still had dial-up at that point). Add in the fact that my parents were very controlling over my Internet usage and I just couldn't have a relationship. We met at a church camp I was at. Church camp was the only time of year I was allowed to spend extended time with other people my own age. I was bullied in school and didn't have friends there so church camp was my only social outlet. My life in high school did get better though junior and senior year. Late 2002-early 2004 was a pretty good time for me looking back at it. Everything went to shit again when my dad became a preacher in the summer of 2004.

Everything bad about the early '00s is reality again in 2020 x100. 1. Conformism. Things were going in the right direction during the hipster era, but in the Trump era, I think this problem is as bad as it has ever been. 2. School shooting hysteria. School shootings during the late 2010s have been far worse than what happened in the '90s. 3. 9/11. Coronavirus is 100x worse than 9/11 4. Homophobia. In the Trump era, homophobia is in vogue again. 5. Tech. This is kind of a boring time in tech 6. Recession. The recession that is just beginning will make '08 and '01 look like the good times. Things are about to get very, very dire in the USA. 7. Movies. The late '2010s was probably the worst era for movies in my lifetime. There were some good movies, but it was mostly sequels and reboots nobody asked for. Things like the Marvel Cinematic Universe were bright spots. 8. My personal life. 2020 is one of the worst times I've ever experienced.

It seems that there is barely anything original for movies these days, the reboots are definitely getting a annoying, especially with Disney making everything live action, which is soooo pointless because the original animated films are and will always be so much better. For example, in the future, the animated Disney movies will be seen as timeless classics meanwhile, the live action ones will be seen as dated and ugly looking in comparison, I feel that the live action Lion King took away all the charm about the original 1994 version. The reboots are ridiculous too for example, they won't let damn X-men die already, 'Dark Pheonix' was terrible, another example is with Terminator, they can't let that just die already, the later films have been terrible. Sorry if I ranted a bit much there. I don't think all the movies are bad though and there have definitely been a few bright spots such as the MCU. Overall, come to think about it, the early 2000s are starting to look pretty good when you compare them to the last few years. You are definitely right with the problems of the early 2000s coming back again, especially in society (or atleast the problems that I saw).

Yeah, as much as I sort of miss the mid-2000s now. I didn’t like them at the time And wished I was alive in the 60s-80s, and sort of went through that “I was born in the wrong generation” phase that some teenagers go through. I even made some posts on inthe00s back then with that attitude which I’m kinda embarrassed of now.
