I never went to Blockbuster as the closest one to me was about 15 minutes away from where I live (and there were video rental stores closer), but I think it closed down sometime in 2013 if i'm not mistaken.

Not that there was ever Blockbuster here, but the nearest record store/DVD shop (they blend together here) closed in maybe 2017?

I have no idea. tbh, I’ve only been inside Blockbuster maybe 3 times in my life, so just like Toys R Us I have no nostalgia for either store. In the 90s We had a mom and pop video store in my small town that went out of business around 2000 or 2001 because they couldn’t afford to switch to DVDs. After that, we just bought our movies from Walmart and didn’t rent at all. then starting in 2005 we got Netflix DVD mailers and got some rentals from Redbox. Then starting around 2009 or so we started to stream some rentals but still got stuff from Redbox and Netflix, and by 2013 Streamed all our rentals.

2010 or early 2011. Right after a girl in my driver's ed class drove through their front window while practicing in their parking lot and shattered the glass. We always joked that she killed Blockbuster.
