I'm sure most of y'all remember when "Crank That" by Soulja Boy was literally everywhere in 2007/2008, and you either loved the song or you really really hated it and there was no in between. If I had to pick a 2010's equivalent to Crank That, it would definitely be "Gucci Gang". I feel like the reaction to that song back in 2017 was very similar to the way people reacted to Crank That in 2007. You either loved the song and got turnt immediately or you really really hated it and wanted to rip your ears off.

It's also kinda funny how both of those songs peaked exactly 10 years apart. It really feels like both of those songs had the same cultural impact.

I think Soulja Boy was bigger during its time. People still remember Soulja Boy today and I don’t think that will be true for Gucci Gang in 10 years. I think a better comparison would be Whip/Nae Nae cause that was everywhere in 2015 and it had a dance. I remember a lot of people hating that song. Also Party Rock Anthem is kind of a love it or hate it song.

Heck, the music video has a billion views on YouTube. It's definitely going to be remembered IMO.

"Gucci Gang" was essentially a niche hit despite the number of views it received on YouTube, and I can't recall it ever receiving any airplay on the radio. I feel as though the only group of people who will still be talking about it in ten years from now will be twenty-something year olds cringing at their 15/16 year old selves. Honestly, I think "Gangnam Style" would be a better comparison to make, it was everywhere and it truly did leave people feeling divided.

"Crank That" was the commercial peak of snap, and even crossed into other countries' charts, something most snap songs failed to do.
Whatever "Gucci Gang" did, it sure wasn't really all that notable for its own genre. In comparison songs like "Panda", "Bad and Boujee" and "Black Beatles" are lot more comparable to how ubiquitous "Crank That" was.

Honestly, Hotline Bling is arguable. Its one of the most wtf songs of the decade. I can agree with Party Rock Anthem in a sense. I never heard Whip/Nae Nae, but it does look to have the gimmick for comparison in terms of aesthetic. A way over the limit pick, but to be mentioned, Anaconda reportedly even surpassed YouTube in its own.

“Hit the Quan” is the “Crank That” of the 2010s. Both songs are almost exactly alike.

It's a tie between "Hit The Quan" and "Whip/Nae Nae" for me. Both songs are deplorable, but they were obviously massive back then.

"Whip/Nae Nae" 100%.
This dude literally made a parody of that song where Soulja Boy came out and said that he was ripping his style.
