I List your favorite groups and what you think of the genre and style. 1975 to the 80s. I love everything from hardcore, 77, oi!, post punk and beyond. Favorite bands would be the Sex Pistols, dead boys, PIL, discharge black flag and the Ramones. Punk a had mainstream presence in 1977 and to a limited extent the 80s despite the music not being commerical oriented and more underground in the 80s. 1979-1984 punk style ( the more iconic era of punk)

Yeah, I like both the US hardcore/post hardcore and related 80s stuff, but also the UK stuff. American bands had a lot to offer but sort of prefer the UK scene in certain ways. I used to be really into it a lot more before but still listen. So many little eras between then and the present.

Punk coverage special on MTV from 1985. It's pretty rare this would happen especially with bands that weren't mainstream. Here's an interesting video:

"Anarchy In The UK" is one of my favourite songs from 1976! Speaking of the Sex Pistols, there has long been an urban legend that the BBC actually prevented "God Save The Queen" from reaching the top of the UK Charts due to it being released during the Queen's "Silver Jubilee". It's one of the few urban legends that I personally believe to be true; it made it to #1 on the NME's chart.
I've been meaning to listen to more songs from the first wave of punk, but I just haven't got around to doing so.

Check out this list for recommended albums from that era: www.altpress.com/features/best-1977-punk-albums/If you later discover some Australian first wave punk bands please share. I heard there was a really good scene.

I heard there was a really good scene. I'm not overly familiar with their music, but I know that The Saints were one of the pioneering bands of the first Australian punk wave scene. This was their debut single: Also, just for a bit of trivia, they were actually the first punk band outside of the US to release a record. This song predates the Sex Pistols and The Clash.

That's pretty interesting. I think I heard this song a cd compliation from the 90s but yeah pretty solid track. If there other bands even proto punk groups from aussie do share them. I think there a number of bands from then that are really good. Here are some US/UK bands I recommend: Iggy pop and the stooges Velvet Underground The Dictators Television Blondie The Punks The Clash 999 Stiff Little Fingers The Ruts The Dead Boys The Buzzcocks
