1966 was a legendary year for the charts. Easily one of my absolute favorite years of all-time, packed with fantastic material drenched in rich, multilayered productions from all-three pop, rock and soul. Even making a top 20 for this year was a struggle, in a good way. This was also the year that saw the introduction of psychedelia, probably the style most people associate with the 60s.

1966 would personally have to be my favourite year for music out of the '60s. Many people tend to rave more about how great 1967 was, but honestly, I feel as though '66 was better across the board. I especially love "Wild Thing"; the guitar-riff is so infectious and it's actually quite heavy for 1966. I'm going to be making/posting-in more of these type of threads over the next few days, because I want to sort through my Spotify playlists of songs from each decade and this is an easy way for me to find out which songs I haven't yet included in the playlists.
