Top-20 Songs (1974)

1974 was a crappy year for charting music. Full of bland and forgettable ballads and folk/country rock stuff, cheesy rock ditties and abysmal cock rock anthems. Honestly many people decry disco's domination as having ruined mainstream music for the rest of the 1970s, but if this is what music would have continued as without disco then I'm glad that that domination happened in the first place. Speaking of disco, this was the year full-blown disco songs started to appear on the charts! Making this top 20 was pretty challenging but I think I succeeded in reflecting my favorites of the year, and fortunately the soul genre was as slick or funky and refreshing as ever:

A shame that I hate this year musically so much since this was my mother's birthyear
