2014 was musically... okay? I used to hate it, but honestly having re-explored this year's music it's just kind of there for me now. It was not a particularly memorable year in any way. There was quite a bunch of great stuff, but also a ton of middle-of-the-road and even shockingly bad songs, averaging out in the middle. All I can say is that people were REALLY obsessed with brass instruments in 2014, and productions are getting ridiculously minimalistic.

2014 was a strange year for music. I actually thought it was somewhat of an improvement over the early 2010s if i'm being honest and I can remember having quite a few 'guilty pleasure' songs at the time. On the other hand though, you also had some absolutely dreadful songs like "I'm Ready" and "Turn Down For What" taking up a lot of airplay on the radio, and I consider both of those songs to have been some of the worst songs ever from my high school years. It's a year that I have something of an attachment with though. I was 15 at the time and I've got a memory associated with almost every single song that was on the ARIA Top-100 Chart for that year.
