It's not just because of Dragon Ball Z was getting long in the tooth or GT but because Kids WB had Toonami on at the same time meaning yes... there was 2 toonami blocks on tv it was overkill
So you had CN toonami and Kids WB! toonami on at the SAME time.......
now granted the Kids WB! toonami lasted from July 2001 to Summer 2002 however it really put the Toonami brand on overkill

I think Toonami really declined when someone over at CN thought it would be a great idea to recreate Tom as......this.

I agree that Toonami being ported to WB sort of downgraded it, I wasn't even really excited for it like I was for Toonami on its own. It wasn't "special" anymore.

And to make matters worse DBZ fatigue was setting in right before Buu saga was about to kick off + Dragon Ball OG coming on a half hour before it was too much. Toonami was HUGE and that is in part why WB got Toonami 2 but.... it def downgraded it and made the brand watered down. Prob biggest TV mistakes of the 2000s.

To me around April or May of 2004 when they started to only put it on Saturdays because of Miguzi which I was none too happy about.
