Top-20 Songs (2002)

2002 was something of an interesting mish-mash of the established genres and aesthetics that defined the Y2K Era (e.g bubblegum-pop and pop-punk), as well as a number of new, emerging ones that would go on to define the later years of the decade. After a few years of playing second-fiddle to pop music and to a lesser extent rock, hip-hop propelled itself right into the "front and centre" of popular music thanks to the huge success of The Eminem Show and the further success of Nelly. It was arguably the last year in which alternative-rock placed highly on the charts here in Australia.
If i'm being honest, most of my favourite tracks from 2002 are actually some of the more obscure ones:

2. "Sweetness" - Jimmy Eat World
3. "Just Like A Pill" - P!nk
4. "Cherry Lips" - Garbage
5. "I-E-A-I-A-I-O" - System of a Down
6. "Something Borrowed, Something Blue" - Ben Lee
7. "Get Free" - The Vines
8. "California" - Phantom Planet
9. "Hero" - Chad Kroeger - (A guilty pleasure song
)
10. "Sk8er Boi" - Avril Lavigne
11. "Without You" - Silverchair
12. "The One" - Foo Fighters
13. "Here To Stay" - Korn
14. "Where's Your Head At?" - Basement Jaxx
15. "Feel" - Robbie Williams
16. "Breaking Up The Girl" - Garbage
17. "The Game Of Love" - Santana ft. Michelle Branch
18. "The Zephyr Song" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
19. "Headstrong (Demo)" - Trapt - (Bit of a fun fact, this was one of my favourite songs when I was 8)
20. "Hey Baby" - No Doubt - (This is one of the earliest songs I have memories of)
