If Al Gore won the election 20 years ago, I think the political and to some extent the pop culture would lean more progressive. Not to the extreme like the 1960s or today, but definitely not as traditonal like the 50s or the 80s.

I think the national response to 9/11 would have been different and wouldn't have become so partisan. I doubt Republicans would have been able to politicize patriotism and turn it into such partisan thing with a religious taint. It seems that's the only way they know how to respond to crisis' because they've done the same thing with Covid.
If that would have been different during the 2000s, 2020 would look very different.
