What things were passed down to you from your older brothers and/or sisters' childhood that you otherwise wouldn't have experienced if you were the oldest child? - I must sound like a broken record repeating this anecdote for the umpteenth time. I experienced Nintendo 64 and Gamecube despite my core childhood starting in the Wii/Xbox 360 era. I assume my family bought an N64 around 1998 when my brother was a toddler, it came with an Atomic purple control so it was no earlier than '98. My brother also got a Gamecube for Christmas 2001 right before I was born. These both were the only consoles we had until the late 2000's so I have nostalgia playing both even though I wasn't the target demographic. I did get a PS2 and GBA SP in 2008 but that was when the 7th gen already started. - Most CRTs I had were not bought for me specifically. My family got a Dell PC with Windows XP in early 2002, it eventually broke but we kept the CRT monitor that came with it until it broke in 2016. I used it occasionally in 2015-16 as second monitor for my Windows 8 laptop since it had a VGA port on it and it was actually kinda cool. I did have a KHL CRT TV in my room up until 2017/18 but that was bought in 2003 for the room since I used to share it with my siblings. 2008 & prior it was used for Gamecube/PS2/N64, 2009-2011 it was used for digital tv via converter box, then 2012 and onwards I used it solely for retro gaming. - Around 2012-2014 I had a guilty pleasure for Disney channel shows such as Austin & Ally, Jesse, Good Luck Charlie, A.N.T. Farm, etc. due to my younger sister having them on all the time even though I would constantly talk crap about them.

I don't have any siblings, so nothing was ever really passed down to me at all. The only example I can really think of would be my first console being the original Playstation. My Dad had originally bought it for himself back in 1996, but after my parents divorced around the turn of 2001, the console was left at home for me to use as I got older. As a result, the PS1 was my first console and I started gaming when I was 3.

While she isn't my sibling, one of my aunts is only 10 years older than me and when she was a teen she gave me her N64 and Dreamcast.
