This is the first time this year that I have hope for the future. I genuinely think that the 2020s won’t be the decade we’ve been dreading. Of course, it’s going to take a long time to heal. Parts are gonna be rough. But I feel like the world won’t be in a constant state of falling apart now that Trump won’t be president. I think 2020 is the lowest we will go. We can only move up from here. Yes, climate change scares me a hell of a lot. I can’t say much about that other than I hope we can deal with it. But I think 2016-2020 will be looked back upon as a very bad time.

I think the second half of the 2020s may be a huge improvement if the following things play out. 1) There is a peaceful transfer of power from Trump to Biden in January 2021. 2) A successful COVID vaccine is released in 2021 or 2022 that brings the pandemic to an end 3) The consumer economy is able to recover before the coming commercial real estate crisis brings down the financial system. Right now I would say this is a HUGE risk potentially causing a long-term economic crisis comparable to the Great Depression. Biden's win makes this considerably less likely but it's still a ticking time bomb.

After experiencing 2020, I'm not gonna say the 2020's will be better or worse. I'm just gonna let them play out how it should. Predicting how a certain time period will go is almost useless IMO.

We all hope. You can only go up from such a dreadful year like this one.

I'm leaning on the side of caution over this. Trump's far-right supporters aren't going anywhere. As great as it is that Biden has won the election, the Trump supporter base are going to remain dormant over the next four years and they're going to make a big showing at the 2024 US Election. The world is still very divided in the political and societal sense. China is making further inroads into the South China Sea and there's now a real likelihood that a takeover of Taiwan is just around the corner. If that happens, expect the US and the other Western nations to declare war against China and who knows how that will play out.

I cried tears of joy when Biden won. So did my mom. I don't know why but it felt reminiscent of Obama winning back in 2008. Different feeling though. We cried because we believed in Obama, now we're crying cause we hate Trump.

I remain cautiously optimistic. Although right now, this will possibly be the toughest transition of power we'll ever see. Senate Republicans like McConnell are supporting Trump's effort to not concede the race and Pompeo just said that they'll be ready for a second Trump administration (and he wasn't joking).

Grievance culture. They're trying to keep their base mad and energized for the 2022 elections.
