This is my prediction. People are going to want dance music and other upbeat genres, especially when bars and clubs reopen and festivals start happening again. Bedroom pop and lo-fi will be on their way out. It remains to be seen what will happen to trap, but my guess is that a new era for hip-hop is coming as well. This also coincides with a generational change. New nightclubs in 2026 won't be able to rely on old club anthems from the 2000s (think songs like "Young Jeezy - It's Going Down").
Music evolution in 2020 is on pause and I doubt there will be many changes before reopening. However, I think by 2028 and 2029, music will be unrecognizable by today's standard.

POP PUNK is back, I been saying this since the "other board days" MGK's new album is pop punk and a host of other pop artist are doing the pop rock 2000s route.

Hate to be the party pooper, but I find this pop punk rehash most unfortunate. At least with bedroom pop, artists were trying to do something completely new and original.

I'm still not convinced that it's the next big thing either.

Which, bedroom pop or a pop punk revival? Whether it's likely to be the next big thing or not, I just think bedroom pop is better.
