What is the boards thoughts on Fall 2017 ? Did u feel 2017 was similar 2 2001? I think 2017 is more of a reboot year than 2016. Now that I think of it, for sure. 2015 and 2016 are like 1999 and 2000 and 2017 is like 2001.

Now that I think of it, for sure. 2015 and 2016 are like 1999 and 2000 and 2017 is like 2001. Teen pop was huge throughout 2015-2016 just like in 1999-2000. 2017 is when teen pop fizzled out like 2001 with groups splitting, going in a more adult direction. 2017 had more of an adult vibe than 2016. Hip hop became the largest consumed or streamed genre of 2017. In 2001, there was backlash against the 1999-2000 culture. In 2017, there was a backlash against the 2015-2016 culture. I feel 2020 feels more 2001 ish tbh with 9/11 and Covid-19 shaking things up, plus Gamecube and xbox came out around the same time ps5 and Xbox series X did today Every year is different tho no 2 years are the same at all.

You've got a point. I agree that 2020 feels like 2001. I always feel like video games & consoles are mostly released in the fall or the late part of the year. Yes every year is different. Idk 2 me, 2015-all or maybe most of 2016 had similar culture just like 1999-2000 had similar culture. Do u feel as if pop culture like music, movies, games, TV shows r becoming more mature & adult-like in 2020 just like how it was in 2001? Not really no because of things being so fragmented, if anything pop culture got lighter in 2016 with shows like fuller house, all the sitcom reboots, IT, Stranger Things. Things got super campy and strayed away from the Dystopian mid 2010s movie tropes and scripted copy cat shows that ran rampant. Nothing really changed that much tv show and movie wise, hell we got Saved by the Bell back. The "reboots" era if you will. It is hard to compare a year with another year from a decade so much so I will just stick to saying 2020 is 2001 + 2008 vibe

I could see cable TV dying this decade, maybe I'm a decade late lol. I figured TV & movies are still in that late 2010s or "Reboots" era which began around 2016-2017. Fuller house got canceled in 2020 which I think is partly cuz of the bitch Lori Laughlin heh heh heh. The original Full House lasted from 1987-1995, 8 fucking years. I knew that Fuller House wouldn't last as long. Roseanne got rebooted, but cancelled due 2 her support 4 Trump (serves that bitch right). Will & Grace ran from 1998-2006, rebooted in 2017, but cancelled again. I've noticed that a lot of reboots don't last as long as the original series. Pluto TV is kind of like an intermittent cable replacement (Viacom CBS owns them ) while Cable TV the Paid version can be used on Sling TV and Youtube TV hulu LIVE so you don't need to call a cable company anymore but still have to pay pre paid. While On demand services like HBO MAX and NETFLIX and Disney PLUS are taking the most of the consumers money. MTV in general I made a thread about this said recently they are not focusing on linear tv anymore and are becoming a 3rd party company

Monoculture is pretty much dead. MTV put their premium Music Video channels for free online lol pluto.tv/live-tv/mtv-spankin-newThey gave up on linear, their main MTV channel has Ridiculous running 24/7 Streaming is the FUTURE

Never liked this fall period. The Las Vegas and Sutherland Springs shootings were monumentally depressing events, Lil Pump became famous (sadly), and music was just meh to bland to me. Fortnite and PUBG were pretty cool at the time, though.
