Late summer and fall 2012 was sort of hard to detect and neither nor in a way even though it was clearly transitional and not pure early 2010s anymore
By winter 2012-13 ( November 2012 - March 2013) changes were noticeably felt and it was leaning mid 2010s regardless of how much early 2010s culture was still in place and regardless if it was hard to describe at the time.
The era felt different looking back was nearly identical to the mid 2010s with just more early 2010s culture.
Not only were things different in late 2012-2013 but people were also starting to rebrand and look more mid 2010s.
Also you could better feel the early 2010s slowly dying just a few months into 2013 from what I remember.

Fall 2012/winter 2013 closer to early 2010s and spring 2013 is 50/50.

Fall 2012/winter 2013 closer to early 2010s and spring 2013 is 50/50. To me the direction was pointed to the mid 2010s, from the start, even if it wasn't completely 100 percent there.

I won’t deny that it was the start of the transition but the overall vibe just leans early 10s. Summer/fall 2013 has more visible changes that make it the official start of the mid 10s. Late 2012/winter 2013 felt very similar to 2011-mid 2012:
-Electro-dance pop still playing and charting. -GTA 5 not released yet -8th Gen gaming hasn’t officially started. -iOS 7 wasn’t released until Sept 2013 -Vine culture hasn’t begun -Instagram hasn’t fully taken over Facebook. -Snapchat still niche -Binge watching culture hasn’t taken off -Emojis not influencing design aesthetics.

November 2012 to March/April 2013 felt like a beta version of the mid 2010s -Hipster fashion, general aesthetics, casual fashion and tech was almost 85-90 percent identical to mid 2010s. -It was officially almost becoming a bit dated to not to have a smartphone or newish apple product -Music was very close to the mid 2010s with some early hits already coming around, present on albums or that would be played in latter 2013 onwards -Much more an far left/liberalism creeping into mainstream culture and social discussions than early 2010s even if not at core mid 2010s levels -A bit more emphasis on apps and touch technology compared to 2011

Early 2010s. Hell even 2013-2014 had Early 2010s influences, though it was more Mid 2010s by then.

The whole year felt consistent. 2013-2014 was more mid but you ain’t lying when you said it still has some early 10s vibes left.
