IDK to me 2014 is way too raunchy/sexual to really register as trashy to me. I associate cheesiness with stuff that’s really goofy and lighthearted. Happy by Pharrell Williams to me is cheesy as fuck precisely for that reason. Otherwise, if anything, 2014 is when the 2010s started getting edgier and M-rated. 2011/2012 was a lot more kid-friendly and goofy. It was the time of Gangnam Style, Call Me Maybe, Friday, and Party Rock Anthem, plus the peaks of Justin Bieber and One Direction.
